Bought Hound heads and body from elijahfeathers, who had bought them from Quetz. Bought Michael Bowie head from Thymeseer July 2023.

-- I've really fallen out of love with the Hound sculpt. Because of this, I was faced with some decisions...

I could sell the Hound, body, heads, and all for dirt cheap to move the doll out. Cassian would be no more. Alternatively I could reach out to Resinsoul to see if they can put together a Yi head for me with a bit of resin matching. Both of these options demanded way more work than I had the energy for-- I am still recovering from an accident and only have so much juice in my tank for anything. So! I did what any sane person would do:

I went to the DoA marketplace and dug.

As fate would have it, Thymeseer had just what I was looking for! A Dollshe head in the old Copper Oriental-- Michael Bowie. After some quick research on the head, I found a whole lot of nothing in the way of owner pics for the sculpt, so I said heck it, let's do the thing.

I am so glad I did the thing. He's g o r g e o u s.

The head had a very nice face up by a mystery artist-- unfortunately it didn't match the character too well, so I did the unthinkable and darkened the brows, refreshed the blush (twas faded??), added eyeliner, and installed lashes. I then tightened the body's strings, redid the sueding, installed new wires, and briefly lost my will to go on when it became apparent that no amount of tightening or sueding or wiring would help him stand.

Such is my life. Such are my choices.

I want to give him a nice new photoshoot, however with the temperatures hovering around 110F...I don't think that will happen any time soon. For now he can decorate my shelf.

I never would have dreamed of having a Dollshe in my collection-- they seemed so expensive and fancy and unattainable, I'd just coo and sigh over them from afar. I wasn't so cool a doll owner that I'd have such a nice doll-- my speed was more the mid and lower price range dolls and oddities.

Color me surprised that now I can say: a-yup I'm a Dollshe owner, too! The price and the timing was right when I scooped this doll from my friend, elijahfeathers! He had made the rounds amongst the friend group, and now he's in my hands.

Cassian arrived with a face up originally painted by Quetz, however the age of it caught up to him in transit. His eyebrows and lower lashes came away and bits and pieces were chipping. I wasn't QUITE ready to send him off to someone for a new face, though.
I haven't seen a lot of Hounds and I didn't know what I'd even ask for, or who had experience with the sculpt, so I grabbed my own face up supplies and started the lengthy process of repairing what was there.
I gave him dramatic black eyeshadow and plumped his lips with some rich darks, contoured his cheeks and brightened his blushing. I then gave him a new pair of eyebrows and highlighted the bridge of his nose, his cheekbones, brow bones top and bottom, and his chin. Finally, when all the basic repairs were done, I took out my gold acrylic, cut it with water, and washed it over his highlighted spots to better bring those bits out and add a little sparkly glam. I then put gold on his....lips, upper and lower eyelid, gave him gold shimmer over his eyeshadow for more depth, gold gold gold. XD

Finally I installed some lashes. That was the hardest part, believe it or not. It took many attempts. Looks nice, though. Worth it.

It's often that I have to go over and patch up face ups on my dolls, and Cassian is the most extensive I've had to do (I think it has entirely to do with my climate), but I think he's turned out quite nice and can hold until I can find a professional artist who knows how to work with the Hound's quirks.

I plan to blush his hands as well for a giggle, and I'm in the process of making him a new wig. I don't much care for the wig I plopped onto his head. Sometimes it looks nice, but other times I don't think it compliments his sculpt well.

I DOOO have his OE head lying around, but I can't decide if I'll get a separate body for that one or not. Maybe when I find an artist, I'll send both heads and Cassian can be a spoiled brat with two heads orrr he can have a twin brother!

I also plan to either make him a pair of scimitars and a dagger, or find someone who makes dolly weapons and rub money all over them. He might earn himself some armored bracers in the future, and fancier jewelry when I get the materials in.

I messaged them about a style of outfit I had bought from them previously asking if they could cook something up in Cassian's size in a palette that complimented his face up and resin color! As you can see, they did an AMAZING job. I always love to get outfits from them because I can mix and match elements from my own collection of stuff with theirs, I can dress them up and down with accessories and embellishments, and overall the outfits are high quality, flexible, and a dream to work with.

Cassian is all swagger and confidence, but he's far more mild than he first lets on. He's been around the block and seen a few things in his lifetime, so it's hard to rattle him. You can count on him to keep his head on his shoulders in a crisis, and to be a pillar of support in hard times.

The man's appetite is as big as he is tall, though. He has an insatiable sweet tooth and gets snobbish about tastes and smells. His nose is scalpel sharp and he'll know when something's off...just as he'll know when something is going to taste amazing.
