Hinoki is not sure how he ended up in a vampire's garden.

Neither is Asa.

They're stuck with each other now though.

In Hinoki's defense, fence maintenance is not one of Asa's skill sets and the garden is largely distinguished from the surrounding forest only by an increase in rose bushes and the occasional moss covered statue lurking around to startle the unwary. How he ended up in the forest is a further mystery. Hinoki has no memories beyond trees and shadows.

He does have magic, but no idea how to use it properly which can lead to some.... interesting situations. Untrained mages are something of a natural disaster, but massive property damage and untimely death is very far down on Asa's list of concerns, so they've more or less learned to live together. Hinoki spends most of his time dodging other mages and hanging out in the pile of Magical Stuff Asa's collected over the years.
