    I love this funky little dude. When I saw DF-A Que Wei, it was love at first sight. I loved his horns, his big eyes, his big mouth...everything! I adored his features and knew I had to have one.

    Unfortunately for him I fell out of the hobby by the time he arrived. I had ordered him around...June 2018, but it turns out that DF-A lost my contact information. I got that sorted right and quick with the dealer, and then he arrived. I ooh'ed and ahh'ed, then promptly put him into storage with the other dolls.

    Fast forward to 2023-- I purchased a couple of Volks bodies from nikittin, and one of those bodies turned out to be a SD10 boy body...that was shorter than my other SD10 boy bodies. After some research it turned out he has legs that run as the default for the SD10 girls, as well as the H-09 hands.

    At that point I knew I had no other choice: I had to put the Que Wei on this adorably height challenged body.

    I put in an order for his outfit and mustered up the energy within to give him the face up I had been so afeared of doing. See, his sculpting is...interesting. It's beautiful, but it's not an easy sculpt to work with. His unique features combined with a high degree of asymmetry in the sculpt posed a unique challenge to me. I'm not an artist, you know? But, somehow, I managed to give him the face up I had always wanted for him! Initially I was going to install lashes, but while I was fitting them they just didn't look right on him, and I also suck really bad at installing lashes. I took that as an excuse to leave him lashless for now. That may change in the future, but for now I'm happy with him.

    I also blushed his hands, neck, and upper arms, giving him scars on his arms and hands. I won't be putting scars on his torso.

    His eyes were some old urethanes I think I got with my Dollshe. I never really vibed with them, but when I put them in him while trying to figure out what to do for his eyeballs, I really liked the look?? I vibed with it, so in they stayed.

    In the meantime I've put together a few random bits of clothing and scraps so that he can hang out with the other dolls while he waits for his outfit.

    Oh! In addition, I bought this fine fellow a ton of wigs. So many wigs. I was sure that one would work, and my other dolls could fight over the leftovers. The problem is that every wig I tried on him felt very...been there, done that. Very tired. Very average. But, as I looked at him sitting there, bald as could be, I thought...that he actually looked pretty neat without a wig. Striking. There was a character in there. I blushed his headcap and made a little bandana for him for whenever he feels the need for something on his head.

    Thus, Huiyan's character came to be, and thus he shall be bald for the time being. Apologies in advance for headcap seam line.

    I wanted a Chinese name for him, and I had an idea that he might be a shape shifting creature of some sort. A dragon. Huiyan should mean something along the lines of Gray Eyes, referring to his mirror-like pupils. Huiyan the Gray-Eyed. Or...Gray Eye the Gray-Eyed. Huiyan can also refer to a favor, a mercy, or a benefit.
