Reason for choice:

I needed a big, muscular guy for the character. I was planning to modify the head to do the underbite and fangs, and Akando seemed like a good base to start with.

Best Points:

The resin is very lovely - even for as old as he is, the resin color is still very pretty. The features are very lovely and the face has a very nice openness.

Worst Points:

The joints are not very well engineered - he stands great, but he really doesn't do much else. His waist is rather thick for his overall proportions, so it is hard to get clothes for him aside from those specifically made for the EID body.

Klaus's face has been heavily modified to look like his character. I slimmed his nose, then cut back and reshaped the upper lip and so that I wouldn't have to build out the lower lip as far to allow the teeth to protrude past the upper lip. I built out the lower lip quite a bit. All of the additive modifications were done with carefully color-matched resin, which made him labor intensive but meant that I didn't have airbrush or do other color matching. (Even blank, you'd have to look really closely to see where the original resin ends the addition begins).

His sideburns were painstaking applied after the faceup and took a few days because it was so tedious.

Klaus is a fan-doll of Klaus von Reinherz from Kekkai Sensen (Blood Block Battlefront). He is the head of the Hellsalem's Lot branch of Libra, an organization that handles supernatural threats and generally keeps the world from ending on a weekly basis. Klaus himself is ridiculously powerful, both in terms of his physical strength and his blood technique, as well as being hyper intelligent, idealistic, and gentlemanly. He also seems to be a bit anxious, which I think we can all relate to a bit.

(Totally recommend Kekkai Sensen if you haven't seen it - it is by Nightow, the same guy who created Trigun/Trimax. It's more of a monster of the week format, but it has a great ensemble cast and a charming take on eldritch humor.)
