I already owned the girl Anson, so when they rereleased the boy after more than a decade I just had to get him!

I’ve styled him in a basic toreador/mariachi Mexican style with lots of decorative embroidery, which I make from old sari scraps.

Name story:

I named him Mesquite from the tree outside my home. They are quite prevalent in my area, so it’s a homage to where I live. Plus it’s a Mexican word that suits his day of the dead based character.

As a sentient flower he’s ageless, although he appears in his mid twenties.

Mesquite began life as an ordinary flower blooming along the shopping district of 4th Avenue, a starting point for the annual Mexican Day of the Dead processional. There he was purchased and carried in the processional by the family of a dearly departed loved one, absorbing all the emotions and love of that day until he became sentient.
