Born during the 14th century, Ansuz witnessed how The Black Plague erased almost the entire population. Desperate to find a cure, he decided to leave his beloved home to study medicine like it was his religion until he became an expert practitioner, making him one of the most famous doctors in his time.

But he, too, was human just like the rest. The plague eventually claimed him as one of its victims as he fell ill.

Everywhere he went and no matter what he did, he knew that death will soon catch up. Thus, his search for a cure became more and more tedious and extreme, even resulting in unconventional measures which he was found guilty of— performing experiments on the living.

The entire population wanted him dead for such disturbing behavior and at the same time, his body was slowly succumbing to the plague. Though it seems like there was no escape, for Ansuz, it wasn’t the end yet. He pulled his last card— a pact with The Devil. He asked for a cure in exchange for the lives of the family he left back home. The Devil was very pleased with such a generous and ambitious offer.

After a deep sleep, Ansuz awoke feeling as good as new. It’s as if he never became ill in the first place. The deal was a success and he was now free from the plague. But something felt wrong. Familiar faces were nowhere to be found, the carriages on the road were replaced by colorful, unfamiliar vehicles, no castles were visible in the horizon, only skyscrapers stood way up high, and the smell of the air was of smoke, not the stench of corpses piled on the streets.

He had been put to sleep by The Devil for hundreds of years. The world he knew was now gone and the sun was no longer his friend.

There realized the cure that The Devil gave him— Vampirism.
