Quill was taken by the Fae Royal Family of the Kingdom of Gossamer. He is half human and half Fae. Like most half breeds, he doesn't really fit in anywhere, but learned to find some acceptance in the palace guard. He lacks full Fae powers and cannot summon a pair of wings to fly like most full bloods, but what he lacks in powers, he makes up for in fighting strength and pure stamina. Being that he could not complete full guard duties due to his lack of flying skills, but still was considered one of the most loyal guardsmen, as he was assigned as the personal bodyguard to the Crowned Princess Odessy.

Eventually, feelings between the two developed, even if it was forbidden for them to have a relationship together. The two were complete opposites, Quill was soft spoken, reserved, and gentle. Odessy was wild, rebellious, and cared little for the proper etiquette of the High Court. Still, they loved each other just the same. Quill often worried what would happen, if their hidden affair ever became known. However, the princess had another agenda. She confided in him one day that no matter what, they must leave the kingdom together, though it seemed to have nothing to do with their relationship. Quill was still against this, as the princess was sheltered and would probably not understand the dangers of what happened to the Fae outside the protection of the palace, even if leaving would somewhat benefit him in his own right.

Still, Odessy was steadfast in her decision and even against Quill's own opinion, he helped her escape the Kingdom of Gossamer. She later confided in him it was because a series of recent dreams about her lost twin brother dying, that prompted her to leave. This sent Quill into panic, thinking he has endangered the Princess' life based on some misguided whim. Little did he know, they would find the crown Prince whether he truly believed it or not.
