Regan was a baby born only to fulfill a twisted wish by her mother to have the "prettiest" child. Her mother is a moroi (a race of good vampires) spirit user that attended school with the future Queen of the moroi. She was always jealous of the attention the moroi Queen and her best friend and guardian always received. Regan's mother isn't royal, nothing at all remarkable, but always wished she could be more like the moroi queen. Even though she was jealous she kept to herself, so much so that no one even knew she was a spirit user. So... When she graduated she went on a mission to find the most attractive partner. One she thought would have genes that complimented her own. She ended up finding a beautiful strigoi (the bad kind of vampire) man and used a spirited stake to "cure" him back to his prior human self. Doing so made him crazy about her and they had Regan. Regan's mother now is obsessed with making sure Regan is the prettiest and most popular of her peers never actually caring about what Regan wants. Regan's father only cares about her mother being happy and finds Regan to be more of a nuisance than anything. Now Regan looks forward to her time at school because it means less needing to deal with her parents.
