Simone is a part-time circus performer, part-time stand-up comedian with a foul mouth and a cynical outlook on life. She lost her mother to an illness when she was eight, after which her father fell into a deep depression and became distant and neglectful. Simone moved in with her aunt once her dad realised he could no longer care for her, but the aunt was marginally more well-equipped for the responsibilities of parenthood than Simone's father, and Simone ended up running away to join the circus when she was fifteen.

When she first joined the circus, she tried to write her own routines for her circus performances, and put a lot of love and effort into them, but they kept getting rejected by the circus director on account of Simone's rather dark, dry sense of humour. But Simone was determined to share her jokes with the world, and so she ended up performing at small stand-up clubs on nights when the circus wasn't performing, while sticking to a more traditional clown act during her circus performances.
