He is sweet, shy, and very modest. The joys of the others make him at least as happy as if it were his own. Getting a present almost makes him cry. You see, when he still was a little chimney sweeper (just as those you can read about in Charles Dickens stories), all he got were blows and hard words. One day he defended a little girl whom he loved from afar against her evil governess, after that he turned into a soot sprite.
