Twice a week a small city bordering on a vast magical wood is visited by its most talented alchemist, a young maiden by the name of Sorrel Cloverpin. On these days she loads up her bike with a comically large load of fragile and volatile alchemical creations and brings them to the various shops that stock them. It is a long journey from her cottage deep in the forest, the perfect place for gathering ingredients, but it is worth it, for in town she can enjoy her other true love besides alchemy, trendy sweets, something she was incapable of getting right.

Sorrel first discovered alchemy when an injured adventurer who got lost in the woods came to stay with her for a time. The adventurer was reasonably concerned with the fact that Sorrel, a child at the time, was quite certain she had lived her entire life alone in the woods. When asked how she could have managed on her own as a baby, Sorrel has always shrugged it off, saying it’s normal to not remember much from when you are young. She to this day doesn’t know her origins and it doesn’t phase her a bit, though there is even more she doesn’t know than she realizes. Sorrel was found as an infant and raised by the fairies of the wood, though she always forgets their existence the moment she ceases to see them. It was why she never seemed to be lonely living in total isolation for entire life at that point, though meeting the adventurer gave her pause. She wanted to learn about the outside world and know how to become a part of it, and when the adventurer was faced with her extremely healthy (to the point of tasting of death) food, they suggested potion crafting as a possible vocation for Sorrel.

In truth, they said poison crafting at first, quickly correcting to potion crafting, but tomato tomato, alchemy was the young girl’s way forward.

She took to the hobby with gusto, and realizing that the alchemy books she had often asked for monster parts, she happily trotted up to her first target, a slime, and beat it to death with her fists. It never occurred to her to use a weapon, and so she continued to punch larger and larger creatures into submission with the same look of joy as she did in the beginning, not really noticing how insanely strong she had become.

Her knowledge of alchemy grew, as well as her newfound taste for companionship, and so she went about crafting the perfect friend for herself. Part plant, part frog, part puppy, with the springyness and resilience of putty, her new pet was perfect. Plort (named after the sound it makes when it walks) loves to be launched at high speeds by Sorrel, it’s a sort of reverse fetch they play together.

Sorrel has two current universes, one where its a post-apocalypse fantasy (think broken down overgrown skyscrapers but also fantasy monsters, with tech being back at the industrial revolution era) and one that is just the Pathfinder universe babey. Of COURSE I built her in a TTRPG I am unstoppable and my special interests will never relent.
