Reason for choice:

I'd recently seen Geminick Creations' Haldur one-off, and had thought "well, he's gorgeous, but there's no way I'll ever own him. he's big $$$, and his preorder was very small!" And then I was browsing the large dolls section of the marketplace and saw a familiar name...

Best Points:

His size - 55cm - is the ideal size for me. His face has so much character and charm, and I love how gangly his body looks, he really looks like he's still growing. His resin is beautiful, too!

Worst Points:

This doll is the entire reason why I learned how to do sueding, wiring, and restringing. When he arrived, he was just a bundle of kicking. After having to manhandle him that much, I feel like he can handle anything I throw at him, so I'm definitely less "precious" with him...which in turn means he's one of my favorite dolls to just hang out with. Sigh...

I've had grail dolls on my wishlist before, but I pointedly don't count Stranger among them. Why? Because he was so much of a pipe dream I didn't even speculate on what owning him would be like. So when I found someone actually selling their Geminick Ask, I jumped on the opportunity immediately. When he arrived, he was less a doll and more a tangle of awkward limbs, which led me to embark on a long and arduous journey of Figuring Out How To Make Him Not Be That. It took a lot of hot glue, paracord, and tears on my part, but I finally got him to a point where he could stand and pose and Hold His Arms Out Straight, Dear God, Stranger, Why Were You This Way. (Answer: a combination of smooth resin, Heavy resin, and very thin elastic.) Anyway, it turned out to be kind of a twisted bonding experience and now he's definitely the doll I'm most casual with, just because I've had to get so familiar. Stranger could literally get away with murder in my book and he Knows he could. Just look at that face.

Stranger doesn't say much about himself, and truth be told, there's not much to say. He's a nomadic sort with no real attachments to anywhere or anyone. The general suspicion is that he's been around for a long time. And wasn't there that old story, about a wanderer hero who gambled with the gods, and walked away with eternal life...?
