1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

A Year in Review: 2014 Resolutions

Dec 31, 2014

    1. I didn't see another thread like this, although I know that there was a "goals of 2014 thread" at the beginning of last year. I thought it'd be neat to revisit the goals and see what you've achieved or what might go into next year. My 2014 goals were:

      1. Get my second grail doll: Iplehouse Andrew.--> COMPLETE :D (Ordered in May, recieved in July)

      2. "Complete" the dolls I have./2a. Make a master list of who needs what to be "finished".
      -Damian: Wig and eyes-->DONE
      -Sala: Wig-->done
      -Phoebe: Wig-->done
      -Mina: Wig and eyes-->done
      -Antal: Wig--->done

      3. Figuring out a schedule for who I want and when. (Roary, Eudora blushing): Not done, add to 2015 list

      4. Make my doll cubby.--> not done, add to 2015 list

      5. Attire my crew.--> Mostly done; everyone has /something/ to wear

      6. Take and post more pictures--> Mostly done; posted new pictures of dolls and had several photo shoots

      7. Be more active in the communities and learn more about this hobby.--> Done! I have made such a jump here it's kinda crazy. I have been more active on both boards, participated in GOs for the first time, participated my first swop (and joined a second), and over the summer ran a Silent Auction for a forum board at a meet. This is way more than i could have dreamed and am so proud of this! Hoping to be able to remain as active in the coming year.

      8. Appreciate what I have and not pine as much for what I do not have.--> Mostly done; I have done a much better job at focusing on the dolls I do have and working with them--and balancing my funds with my doll wants.

      Next year's goals will hopefully be a little less vague in some areas so I can say a definite "done" or "not done". Overall, it was an AMAZING doll year. I completed my first floating head from last year to be a new doll that I adore. I purchased a head and found the perfect body at the DL Summer Meet to make another character who I had been wanting to shell, and hope to have a body for the latest floating head I've purchased. Hybirding has become a lot less scary now. XD Now to just sit down and do the 2015 list....

    2. Well, I did keep to my resolutions for 2014 insofar that I stuck with "Ludwig will be the last big doll I'll buy" (LLT's Ludwig) ... Since he's not been released, yet, I kept true to my word and still got to buy three more big dolls ... ;)

    3. The thread with the resolutions from last year seems to have disappeared, but I have accomplished a few of my goals. Mostly those involving not adding many new dolls to my wish list, and working on getting existing dolls. And for the most part, that worked! I've bought three dolls this year that were released this year. I've also managed to find a Shonki, a Taco, and a Vesuvia, as well as a Heliot (okay admittedly he's the new Heliot, but when I saw the new one I thought he'd be even better for my plans than the old one). One of my floating heads has a body now too!
      Unfortunately, having to move in the middle of the year really made it hard to do much of anything in the way of commissioning faceups, so that goal will have to carry over to 2015.

    4. 1) paying off for whatever doll I get during the Christmas Event (DollClans Phython head, Soom Dia, Soom Wolf) - did that
      2) give my dolls earring holes - got around that by buying stick ons
      3) find a good place to do my photo shoots - got a nice clothes hanger to hang up backdrops
      4) borrow my dad's camera and figure how it works - fail, the camera sucks
      5) restring my EID beast (I think he's lose) - yep, did that when I sueded him
      6) sign up for sewing class so I can make stuff for my dolls instead of buying buying buying
      7) be happy with what I have - couldn't be further from the truth, ended up getting 2 heads, put 2 dolls on layaway, and deciding on 2 more. Also spent an insane amount on clothes and accessories.
      8) pay off layaway on the 2 dolls (Soom Puss, Soom Zak) - did that
      9) try to scrunge up funds for the 2 more I want (Iplehouse Lawrence, Dollshe David) - I got Lawrence but changed my mind about David.
      10) be good and spend no more money till Xmas - I spent ALL my money so I have NONE for Xmas
      11) wait patiently for the 4 packages that are coming - that happened but the last package (just a sword & a microphone) came 6 months after I ordered and they got the order wrong. Won't EVER be using THAT agent that's for sure.

    5. 1. Sew more doll clothes. Did that, but I might have done more. Its an ongoing goal.
      2. Get the supplies for face-ups and start doing face-ups. I have the pastels and pencils, but that's it. And now there are more blank dolls in the house....
      3. Avoid impulsively buying dolls. Or limiteds. Fail. Two limiteds, two briefly available with a short wait time- (Pounce!) and one ordered as Oh No, he's being discontinued! The collection doubled faster than planned.
      4. Only tinies. I've managed to stick with that for the moment.
      5. Make more furniture for the bigger dolls. They have a slightly better proportioned couch in addition to the loveseat-thing. But that's it.
      6. Try to 'bond' better with #2. She's out of scale with everyone, is hard to dress, and has a wig that barely stays on even with glue. I'm attached to her, but she is definitely the most annoying. And less played with.

    6. I don't remember every 2014 resolution. I just remember that I went over my doll limit by 2 dolls and I am keeping them.

    7. Wanted to sew more for my dolls, a complete failure. It's back on my list for 2015. Just got a new machine so no excuses now.

      Buy no dolls. Another failure. I was very. very good until this fall when I went a little nuts on Ebay & in the Marketplace. But I stuck to my price limit, does that count?

      Sell more. Success at last. I parted with quite a few dolls both BJDs & others.

    8. I got a new Yo-SD girl, which I was hoping for before the end of 2014... My Bobobie Isabella came in this morning.

      I learned how to hem properly and how my clothes last longer and look better.

      I got a third MSD.

      I got a new tiny.

      I worked on a doll house and made my dolls a permanent space in my room.

      Went to a big summer meet up.

      Successful to me.

    9. I don't really remember what my 2014 resolutions were but I did get quite a few things done this year.

      1. Received my first doll
      2. Bought two more SD sized dolls.
      3. Bought two floating heads.
      4. Started putting together my first MSD. He just needs a head.
      5. Got my first tiny. (though he's off topic here)
      6. Practice sewing again
      7. Do plenty of research about face ups
      8. Start a layaway on my next doll. (only two more payments :dance)

      I think my first year in this hobby turned out pretty well. I can't wait until next year to see what I'll do.
