1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

ABJD Collectors 55 Years Old and Older

    1. Does anyone have some names of people who make hats for SD size girls? I am especially fond of felt hats. I have found someone on Etsy but her hats tend to be large on my girls heads and I have to take them in in the back. I know about Susan Lake’s hats (just beautiful but too pricy for me). Just PM me if you do..Thanks Jo
My second Rosy head in her Etsy hat:
Oh..she is wearing my strand of pearls given to me by my parents for my graduation. I keep thinking that I might forget that I have put those precious pearls on her...

    2. Rosy's wonderful, Jo! Love the hat too. I took a little online course earlier this year here: http://www.aforartistic.com/Instructors.html to learn to make felt hats for my flapper girls. I haven't made any yet, but plan to start as soon as I get my play space organized. It's a big job and I expect it will take weeks to get it done. I think I will have to pack up everything in my den, put it in storage, buy some utility tables and set them up, install some bookshelves for the vast amount of doll books I have, then slowly bring everything back and put it away. Then I can make some hats. It didn't look difficult, just time consuming. I wish my husband would go somewhere for a week or so; I can organize so much easier if I don't have to try to put the house back in some kind of order at the end of the day. He doesn't complain, but still, he does have to be able to find the bed at night.

    3. Jo, there is a lady named Peggy Feltrope who does hats. She has made some for me. She has the beginnings of a website and sells on EBay, but I don't have time to look up her EBay name right now (going to work). Cheryl

    4. Lina, Minnie definitely needs more hats to swan about it! I though making doll hats would be fun--I've made a couple of tiny Tudor style hats and Robin Hood hats (those are just two triangles sewed together and the edges turned up, add a feather and you are done.) For some reason Iple's Tedros really looks fab in those. ;) I used to make human hats for RenFaires, but I have never done a blocked hat over a form.

I just wanted to pop up a picture of one of my guys--Hermione is a Dreaming Delf Moon that I had to keep on a Super Gem girl body for a couple of years, because I couldn't find a reasonably priced boy Feeple body, and he collected all kinds of foofy princess dresses while he waited. I finally got his Feeple body yesterday and it's a great poser, but he's still not a macho guy even with a fur wig and jeans. So I found an outfit Baakay gave me and he's all set at last. I suspect I may end up letting out some seams in his old clothes and having him wear them anyway--they are just "his" now.

    5. Love this thread! Always get answers.
Thank you for the links to making hats (and other things too) and the link to feltrope studios as her hats look wonderful.
When I was a member of our local UFDC club, we had a member (Billie) who had been a NYC milliner. Billie offered to spend a day with me teaching me to make felt hats but at the time I had a teenage son and was working full-time. Somehow making doll hats was low on my list of things I needed to do. Now, of course I wish I had taken advantage of her generous offer. I am still trying to learn from that Latin phrase: 'carpe diem'

    6. FC - outfit looks great on Hermione (my favorite color). But, I really love Bird - what a handsome fellow.
Claywimmin, Thanks for the link to Ebay. I have purchased two of her hats and will see if they fit and I like them. They were the Wilde size..Wilde has a big head so maybe a fit?

    7. Thank you, Jo..my MOM said "Bird was hot". Who knew? I keep hoping she will want a doll of her own.

    8. New thread! Now I need to go thru subscribed threads as I seem to have accumulated a few.

FC, your mom is correct - panting here!

    9. Oh, I have some of those felt hats! They are lovely... I haven't tried them on my girls yet, though... although some of them are older big-heads, so I doubt I'll have a problem.

I've tried commissioning julienne (Julienne's Hats-- in tailors) for hats. Her style is more tailored and simple and finished, though. Nice work and very friendly, though.

There were several hat-makers at the BJDC... I'll need to look up their contact info... and PamSD was making simple felt pirate hats for that con, so she might be one to contact since she does lots of commission work.

It seems to me there are definitely not enough accessory-makers for bjds! Of course, there's never enough of anything when you're searching for something specific! *_*

    10. Thanks for all the hat tutorial links. I've been entertaining myself by trying to adapt the lessons in a 1920's millinery book to doll size, and wasting way more in materials than the cost of a class.

    11. Jo -- your Rosy is still one of the more gorgeous girls I've seen! I love that face.

and Fish... Hermione the Manly Man ? :) That's a lovely shot of him regardless -- the blue and the yellow -- and all that green! *sigh* I live in the land of brown at the moment. 'Tis ugly here. I wish that hurricane would veer left juuuuust a wee bit more and head up along the mountains. ;)

    12. Rosy thanks you Baakay.
So you are in the hurricane path..I am just streaming from New Orleans and it does not sound good.
We got storms last night and 4 1/2” of rain in two hours. Got a call from our renters at 6:30 this morning and they have an inch of water in the basement..Rob is over there now. No new doll purchases for awhile, as I think we are going to have to hire someone to seal that basement. It is always something and certainly glad we are not in the path of this rain heavy hurricane.
Thinking of all of you who are having to experience all that bad weather. Stay safe!

    13. I'm so glad the mods took the "really old" part of the thread title out. I don't mind so much being it but dislike being reminded of it.

Did I mention that I bought two Minifees from the marketplace last week? I hope one of them arrives today. Having hit critical mass with the big dolls, I am expanding my crew of smaller ones. I had only one mini girl for years (Secretdoll Yomo), but now have Minnie and the Kaye Wiggs convention doll. My Yomo has yellowed quite a bit, so I think I will have to give her the spa treatment soon to see if I can help her. I hope it is mostly old MSC, but if not, I guess I will look over the customization threads to see what I can do. Has someone here done this yet to one of your dolls? I have heard of good results with various products. I don't expect her to look new, but would just like her to be less jaundiced.

    14. We've gotten more rain here over the last two weeks and it's helped a lot..June everything here was crackly and bone-dry. I'd gladly send you rain this weekend, though, so I don't have to drive downtown in it!
Jo it's always something--and when you have 2 houses it's twice the fun! :o Basement sealing does work, though--just not cheap--it's like a lot of limiteds!
Lina which Minifees did you buy? I have a secret fondness for them but I have no luck finding shoes. At all. As for yellowing, I will hope that taking the old msc off does the trick--I always worry the whitening treatments will make the resin brittle.

    15. It's going to be a wet Dragoncon weekend here in Atlanta, I think. Not looking forward to that, although it is a smidge cooler.
I just noticed ZOZO has hats with her 20's era outfits for sale, too. Here's a link:
      http://www.zolala.nl/
I love her things. I have some things she made in MSD size and they are impeccable.
Hermoine is wonderful. Great ensemble on him.

    16. Anyone with an eye on a CLine... Fairyland just Twittered an order period coming up...

    17. Augh! Nothing like giving us a teeny bit of headway before a sale period. Danggit, do I need another one?

    18. Yes, sistercuervo, you DO!
