1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Alternatives to doll carriers?

May 28, 2008

    1. I'm in the UK and was wondering if anyone here has seen/bought bags in the shops that are similar to doll carriers or work just as well as a doll carrier.

      I have a roller suitcase, but I think I'd prefer something over-the-shoulder.

I saw another member on a forum using a soft tool-bag from B&Q for an MSD, anyone else seen anything that would work?

    2. My dad reccommended a golf bag or a bag used for tennis raquets that have the little handles.. I've seen Violin cases and guitar cases... I'm sure something like that would work well :)

    3. I use a baseball bat bag and pad it with the doll pillows. I can usually get 5-6 SD size doll in the bag.

    4. Violin cases are a great idea, I was looking for some on eBay but can't find old cool ones WITHOUT violins in them!

    5. I made my own tote-bag. it was actuallt really easy to do.

    6. before I made my MSDs coffin case I put her in my messenger bag a few times. Have you tried a local music store looking for a violin case? Also I think I saw an art kit case once I thought would be good to use. I'm trying to figure out what to carry my DOT in....he's too big for anything I was using...

    7. I have a tote that was an airline carry-on bag. It fits my two MSDs and some pillows. They're all on sale now too because it's vacation season!

    8. I have seen camera bags and tripod bags before. A lot of the times you can find one that is too long but stuff with pillows.

    9. In a pinch, laundry baskets work great. But for over the shoulder carrying, regular messenger bags and backpacks work great. Just line them with pillows, small blankets, or towels to protect the dolls. Sometimes you have to position the dolls so they are kneeling or sitting.

    10. I'd be adverse to a tote bag, I think I'd be after something more waterproof, I do live in England after all!

    11. When I had to lug Gabby into London and it was raining, i actually used my laptop backpack.
It worked nicely as the straps are made to carry quite a weight around, and also has a bit of extra padding so along with his pillows and being wrapped in some blankets Gabby particularly enjoyed his trip, even if he was sat all squished up x3

    12. Thats a pretty good plan! I;ll investigate laptop backpacks.

    13. I use a canvas tool bag because it was really cheap (£5), super strong and just the right shape :)

    14. I've seen some cute yoga mat bags that would work for carrying a doll.

    15. My main carry bag for lighter travel is a Volks tote thing I receieved from a friend, but my longer travel bag is a piece of rolling luggage I got on sale at Target. Not only is it tall enough, and has a nice sturdy frame, but it came with a belt inside to keep him safe. It also fits two dolls, and has a large front pocket for carrying clothes and other such things. Got it for $10, it was a good deal :)

    16. I can testify to this. I have a yoga mat bag that's just nice for my DoT to fit in with his pillows. If you're just transporting one doll, especially the taller DoTs then these bags come in pretty handy.

    17. Just a word of advice, always get the ones with zippers. Never use the drawstring bags. They come undone so easily. I had a friend who used a drawstring bag and she accidentally held it upside down. Her poor boy came crashing down and chipped his nose :sweat

    18. I use large gym / sports bag to carry my dolls. One thing need to be noticed is that when using it, you need to put more towels or pillows to protect dolls.

    19. You can look in instrument shops. Or at pawn shops if there are any where you live.

    20. I play the Violin and i can confirm that dolls taller than 60cm will have a difficult time fitting. You also need to heavily mod the inside of the case. A double violin carrier would probably work alot better in terms of shape.
