It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Anyone else end up with an insane excess of supplies? (eyes, wigs, eyelashes, etc.)

Oct 28, 2013

    1. Please forgive me if this is a topic covered already. I did search around and didn't see anything, but I'm a horribly unobservant person so it's entirely possible I missed it.

Anyone else end up with a TON of extra stuff as you've tried things out along the way?

In the beginning I assumed I would change my dolls' looks every so often, but I find now that I'm really more interested in a particular look for each one and most of them are pretty close to complete. Buuuutttt.... when I buy things they don't always look the way they did in catalog pics and such, so I often ended up with a lot of extras for this reason too.

Even though it's a lot of stuff, I just don't see it being worth the effort to get rid of it (I'm extremely lazy) and part of me thinks I might have use for some of the things at some point (packrat inclination). My social phobia plays a bit of a role in it too since transactions = scary human interaction!

So I've got like more than 2 dozen eyes, over 2 dozen wigs, over 2 dozen eyelashes, nearly a dozen extra shoes, a few clothing pieces i didn't like much that will probably never be worn.

One of my biggest problems is eyes! Apparently I really like 1/3rd dolls with eye holes that are smaller than average and I'm STILL buying more eyes trying to find ones that look just right for 5 of my dolls. took me a really long time and a lot of eyelashes before I found some satisfactory sized and shaped pairs of those too which is why I have so many of those. Wigs I have no excuse... I was just having fun experimenting.

Anyone else out there with a (possibly still growing) mountain of extras due to laziness and/or pack rat syndrome?

    2. i only have one doll so far and still somehow ended up with extra eyes, wigs, and clothes that don't quite fit right. i think doll stuff breeds when you aren't looking.

    3. I have a ton of stuff.
      Pack rat syndrome.
I am always afraid I might need something so I can't sell any.

    4. I wish it did! Then I would sell it all and buy more dolls! >D

I have not ended up with much extra things considering I have been in the hobby for seven years. A single pair of eyes that I got for five dollars while waiting on my first doll... needless to say they are not worth selling. I also have two pairs of eyes from Dollmore that I bought on a whim and never used, but I am packrating them away in case I need them. One fur wig that I replaced with a fiber one and one nice wig from Leeke that I am holding on to. And I have a few freebie things (a shirt and another fur wig) that I have acquired via other purchases.

I have a small stash of eyelashes, but they will get used in time...

That is really all I have that is extra. I tend to try and sell off anything I do not use.

    5. I don't really have extras around. I keep a small stash of cheap eyes in different sizes so I can decide on an eye size for new dolls, and I usually have some extra eyelashes around in their own little container. I also have a total of two wigs that aren't intended for a particular doll.

I sell off extra clothes and such as I go along, so I don't really end up with much extra of anything.

    6. Oh, I've got a ton of extras of pretty much everything! It accumulated quickly with default eyes being included, extras from sellers, doll event raffle wins, etc. I think right now it's partially laziness and partially reluctance to sell because I might find a doll who will use it somewhere along the way. Especially in the case of eyes. I haven't decided 100% on some character's eye colours, so I'll just wait for them to arrive and see what works for them from my pool of extras. It's also been handy to have extras when I've ended up with extra heads. I had a pair of really, really cheap acrylics that came with my Angel Fantasy Lily that I thought I'd never use. But then I entered a faceup contest through Doll North and needed a fantasy pair of eyes for the head. They needed some cleaning up, but worked out perfectly! It's these cases that make me reluctant to get rid of the extras. I have sold some things at meets that a couple years down the way I wish I hadn't, so that ends up adding to my packrat mentality with my doll stuff. I do sometimes sell things I'm positive I'm not going to use, but eyes and some wigs I'm reluctant about.

I think when my collection is complete (and I'm almost there) then I'll probably start offloading the extras, but for now I'll just tuck it all away until I'm completely sure I'm not going to need it. My doll stuff is relatively organized, so it's not like it's clutter at the moment.

    7. Originally, yes, now, not so much .-. aside from the furniture, but then i've had THAT since i was 7 XD

Most of my invading extras are accessories and furniture, i do have a few extra wigs (stolen from porcaline dolls i scalped or purchased and didnt suit the character) but i imagine those will get snapped up by a incoming head and when my floating head boy gets a body MAYBE XD i only have one pair of extra eyes and thats cause they make everyone they were meant to possibly go in look like an alien XDD maybe i'll try them in my incoming sd .-. tho she's got lovely eyes already judging by the pictures. MOSTLY i wind up with extras from making stuff or going through old stuff in the attic XD

    8. Ugh, god, yes. I have so many extra odds and ends, it's ridiculous. And I think my biggest problem is socks/stockings.

For some reason I always buy ones that don't even fit my dolls?! They are listed as fitting, but they are almost ALWAYS too long. I also have a lot of eyes. (Mostly default eyes that come with the dolls. Since I change their eyes, I keep the defaults because I don't know what else to do with them.)

I have wigs I have no use for either. But I really hate selling small things, you know? So I just hoard it all -_-

Also, when I have a doll on order, I like to start shopping for them. So I pick and choose the things I think will be perfect for them, then I get the doll, and sometimes it's just ALL rejected x3 So then they need new stuff. But other times it works out perfect ♥

    9. Yes and no.
I do have some wigs and eyes extra, all neatly packed away, but not THAT much. Dito for clothes.
If I'm sure I don't need the stuff I take pics and put it on the 'local' MP first, see if anyone wants it. Also, I sometimes give some of them away as freebies when someone buys a doll. Always better to have some basic stuff with the new kid, rather than eye- and hairless, no? -^^-

Also given the fact that might be of 'no use' for me, but might be 'perfect' for someone else and even the small stuff does cost money (especially if you order from across the world cause you think you FINALLY found the perfect eyes/whatever for your doll), so it definitly pays off.

    10. I have extra eyes and wigs, I want to have eyes ready for new dolls until the have their own. And wigs, well I love to order limited wigs even though I don't have a doll for all of them yet. There will be the day I buy dolls for the wigs I have. I love having a range of wigs waiting for new dolls :)

    11. I /always/ have extra eyes! But it's sometimes a good thing, because if a doll comes in without eyes I can put in some temporary ones lol

    12. I always have extra eyes and wigs, because sometimes the doll outgrows them or the style doesn't suit my taste anymore. Sometimes something I buy don't really fit...

    13. I think it's only natural in this hobby  I have leftover clothes and wigs, none of which fit or are intended for my current crew.

    14. I have spare stuff, but I try to sell it to fund more stuff ;-)

    15. Wigs and eyes, I think that is something most people have a few spares of. I have the wig box that gets dragged out whenever a new doll comes home and we play dress up. It's a fun little bonding thing and maybe one of these wigs will work instead of having me buy another wig.

I do have two strange items that I seem to have a surplus of even though half my crew never wear them. I have a box of just hands and feet, different sizes and companies. Some are spares, some are intended for a modding project and some are for my weird demon character. She collect hands. Most of them were purchased fairly cheap. I think the most expensive was the Volks prayer/hand-holding ones at around $40.

I also have a decent size collection of animal hats and pyjamas. You know those silly all in one style with the hood? I have three of them and only one doll will wear them. Thank goodness they don't often make them in SD size otherwise I'd have many more.

    16. LOL LOL LOL 2 dozen wigs - is that ALL? LOL
I have about 35 dolls right now. Each has their own WARDROBE... including different wigs for changing hairstyles. Then there are the cosplay wigs & costume (ie theatre) wigs. I believe I have a few extra that I haven't assigned either to a cosplay, a costume or a doll, however.
Ditto for shoes (sooooo many). I don't have that many eyes (OK I've got maybe 10 pairs not actually IN a doll at the moment, plus a bunch of extra acrylic eyes that I probably will be taking as giveaways for a meet next week).
And then the clothing - well. Extra? No. I mean every one of my dolls needs at LEAST 5 outfits plus the costplays & costumes. At LEAST. Some get more...
I have sooo much stuff for the dolls. I'm doing photo-shoots & planning for stories so I certainly feel I will use all of it, though :D

    17. I can relate! But I think of it less as "pack rat syndrome" and more as my girl is spoiled ^^ My one MSD has something like 7-8 wigs, 3-4 complete outfits, 4 pairs of eyes, and 5 sets of lashes. The lashes are maybe excessive since I've never even changed hers, but the rest gets used a lot! I change her clothes and wigs all the time, and her eyes once and a while, so it's not a waste having so many. I also plan on getting at least two more MSD girls in the future, so it's good that they'll have plenty of stuff!

    18. hehehe, cool, I'm not alone in this!

Wish I could make more individual replies, but I don't want to make this a gigantic post!

Yeah, whenever I get a new doll the eye and wig boxes get pulled out and just for fun I try all kinds of different things on the new doll even though I know I'm not going to use them hehe. I just get a kick out of seeing different looks on each doll.

harpers-child, lmao! I think so too... sometimes I don't know how I ended up with so much excess and that would just about explain it lol

holy cow! That sounds like a lot of stuff! But great that you actually get milage out of it! I think since I blushed all my dolls I get kind of afraid to change things about them too often because I'm afraid of accidentally messing up the faceups and blushing. Ug, I did chip a faceup once when one of my tall boys fell over. Glad it didn't chip the resin! But it was one of my favorite faceups T_T

    19. Having only recently started the only thing I've found myself in excess of is to scale food props for my bjds. I have just about every category of food in all types of materials from the eraser foods to hand sculpted. I think I may have an obsession for tiny foods :nowords:

    20. I have so much, i don't even know what i own anymore. I am always buying accessories (clothing, wigs, shoes, eyes....etc) for one day when my dolls can come out to play. Right now they are all stored away because i have no room in my home for displaying them. I can't wait till i have a larger home one day and more time to myself for playing. I am a stay at home mom with 3 small kids so i tend to be too busy to make time for the resin kids.
