1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Are you a resin color doll collector?

Oct 16, 2022

    1. Does anyone collect dolls based on their resin color? I have Peakswoods and I tend to stick with the usual face sculpts I like. It seems my goal with Peakswoods is to collect as many of their dolls for the resin color and based on the face up. If I get a Miro I want her in almost all the resin colors offered eventually with as many of their amazing face ups I can possibly buy one day. I don't care if the doll is the same face sculpt.

I used to wonder why anyone would buy the same face sculpt repeatedly. Now i know why. If I buy as many face ups and resin colors of the same doll it's like she always has a new daily look like a real person would.

It feels like recently I am selecting dolls based on their resin colors. It feels as if I am trying to collect all colors available slowly from brands offering unique resin colors. Except for red because i don't know why I fear the color red. It's weird... maybe if it was a pastel red i would be fine with it. When I see a vibrant red doll it makes me think the dolls been skinned alive. I know it's very morbid and odd that red colored dolls make me think of such a horrifying thought.

    2. I've done this to some degree with Volks. I have two white skin SDM-F-60s and one in fair skin as well, along with planning for one in tan skin. I also have two SD-F-60 sculpts in white skin, one in tan on the way, and plans to buy Coco (same head sculpt, fair skin) to complete the colour group.
And while this topic is resin specifically, I'd note I've done the same with my vinyl Dollfie Dreams- DDH-03 in semi-white and normal skin, DC-H-24 in semi-white and tan skin.
I love seeing all of a companies' skintones, and for this reason I plan to go a bit nuts and grab one of each of Volks' Ever Beauty skintones (about 2x cost of a normal doll through proxy :sweat) So I'd say I'm somewhat "dedicated" to hunting them down... Even on the vinyl side I'd also like older iterations of the same skintones, as Volks changed the formulas over time :dance and especially the Dollfie Icons for the fantasy and pearlescent skintones!

    3. This is actually an idea that has struck me really recently! I have some multiples of the same sculpts, but I find myself waiting eagerly for the next order periods from the company so I can buy the same sculpt again in different colors (none of the companies I follow closely offer fantasy colors, but I'd like the rarer colors like tan)

I think it makes a lot of sense, if you really like a doll sculpt, to want more in multiple colors :D they look so nice when you put them next to each other, and multiples of the same sculpt allow you versatility in faceups and stuff. It's really fun imo!

    4. I mean... I would have liked to, but it's too late now, unless I redo my collection. I liked second hand dolls too much, particularly old ones, and I have lots of dolls from when resin colors were generally more limited. So in a collection of mostly shades of "normal" resin I try to get something else when I can. I love "tan" resin and darker and fantasy colors but ultimately I'm very attached to the dolls I got who were all basically the same color by coincidence so that will probably always be the majority of my collection.

    5. I'm not into collecting the same doll in different colours but... I am horribly weak to coloured resin. I have dolls in black, multiple shades of grey, blue, multiple shades of green, purple, multiple tans, red and two dolls that are artist casts in glitter resin (purple and seafoam green). I'd certainly be up for more colours in my collection except for pink as I hate pink.
