Big or Little dolls?

Jan 19, 2015

1. I'm so torn. I love big dolls, but I also love the teeny tinies. If anything, I'm a little scared to purchase a bigger doll...I'm worried it takes more care somehow? I dunno.
Tell me your opinions guys! Big dolls, or little? and why?

2. The bigger the better

3. Both. :)

You know, I usually prefer the 56-63cm range, I feel like there are more options in clothing, wigs and eyes for them, and those sculpts generally fit my tastes better. But I do like having tinies I can stick in a pocket and take anywhere, too. I started out only wanting MSD, and now I only have one MSD, the rest are bigger or smaller!

I feel like the care is about the same on both, the bigger ones can just be harder to restring due to strength needed, and are harder to pack around everywhere. Otherwise, care isn't really any different to me.

4. I like both SD's and MSD's :) I think you can collect all sizes of dolls, you don't have to limit yourself to only one size! I have only one tiny though, a Puki, she is very cute but I'm not so much into tinies other than her. I don't think the big dolls need all that much more care, they all need to be cleaned, have clothes, wigs, eyes, no matter what size they are...maybe you could go to a meet-up in your area and see SD dolls in real life? My first four dolls were SD, so they don't seem too big or intimidating to me, but MSD's took me a while to get used to(they're so small!)and it helped to play with friends MSD's and get used to the size.

5. The sd's do have more options. But if you are want something to carry around go yosd

6. BIG dolls! :love

I have dolls of all sizes from 11cm right up to 72cm, and I like them all. Each size does have its advantages and disadvantages. If you're looking for a 'portable' doll, you may not want to go with a large doll because it's definitely harder to lug them around, but the bigger dolls are easier to dress, sometimes easier to pose and photograph, and are awesome if you're a person who likes to cuddle your dolls.

I love my larger ones because of how much easier they are to handle and how solid they feel when I hold them. I find myself not playing with the smallest ones as much. As weird as it sounds, I'm always afraid I'm going to lose the smaller ones or break them lol.

7. All my dolls until now were above MSD (43-80cm) :) I guess I prefer bigger doll over tiny one. :D But I actually like tiny dolls too. They are really adorable and easy to take with. I may consider to order or adopt one next year.

8. Big ones! Although not too big. I'm a bit intimidated by the 90cm+ dolls.

9. I really like the size of my MSDs and I also like YOSDs that are in the 27 centimeter range. I'm not too fond of dolls that are too much smaller than that, but it could be that none have charmed me yet.

I'm 165 centimeters, so I wouldn't dream of getting an SD that is extremely big. I don't have any yet, but I'm looking for 62 cm and below... Clorista: 90+ centimeter dolls exist? Oh my, I'm only 75 centimeters taller than those. XD

10. My smallest is Realpuki my largest is Lusion... I think any size you like is good.

Teddy

11. My smallest doll is a Realpuki (well, two now), my biggest one is a Minimee head on a Dragondoll Uncle body (approx. 75 cm tall). So I say both - even though I do prefer the big boys.

12. I'm in the process of ordering a new doll and I've been going between big and small but there's something about the detail on the big dolls that I adoooore!!!

13. When I started out, I swore only MSDs. They had adult proportions so I could shell my characters, but weren't so big they'd be a hassle to store. Two years later, I've got a bunch of MSDs but also a gaggle of YoSDs and tinies (I can't help but love their tiny cuteness!)...and even an SD on the way. It's too hard to set a size limit for yourself -- or at least it was for me xD

14. Definitely both! While I'm a little more partial toward bigger dolls, I eventually want at least one Yo-SD, a few MSDs, and a couple of SDs. Although, I'm not really interested in anything above 65 centimeters.

15. Yup! AoD makes some and also a company called Lee-el. Dollmore has some VERY big girls in their Trinity and Lusion doll lines. I'm sure there are others out there though I can't think of any.

16. Bigger, smaller and everything in between! Each size comes packed with pros and cons and owning dolls from 16 to 72cm, I find myself loving all equally.

The smaller dolls can live in dollhouses and there are millions of props for 1/12th scale, and even 1/6th scale. They are portable and easy to deal with... but often they lack strength of presence simply because they are this tiny and can be a pain to pose... never mind the hell that restringing something this small can be.

Minis are more like the middleman, from 30 to 50 centimetres they can vary quite a bit in size and come in a myriad of different body types to select and customize. They are still relatively easy to travel with and pack more presence but they aren't very cuddly or particularly imposing.

Then, biiiig dolls... whoa. They have a lot of character and will not go unnoticed in a room or any place they'll find themselves into. They look more mature and are just the right size to cuddle with, if not a bit of a pain to pose. They are also easier to sew for which is always a pro and can look in scale with their surroundings more easily.

17. My favorite size has and always will be SD. I love mature dolls, and I'm more interested in creating adult characters. The aesthetic of SDs has always caught my eye, and the size is also nice. I've always been a fan of larger size in almost all of my collectibles whether it's plushes or BJDs.

18. The smaller dolls (MSD and under) fit nicely into the world I already had established for my OT dolls, and I love how well my Pukifees travel. But I love the larger dolls, too, even if I don't have one yet. The only "right" size is the one that's right for you - and the character you have in mind.

19. Both, grin. Actually I like just about all BJD sizes though I'm not big into the tiny ones. My favorite sizes are the MSD and SD sized ones I think. Best of both worlds for me. I have tons of clothing for slim MSD type dolls so having BJD dolls that size makes it easier for me to dress them. I don't have near as much in SD sized stuff so I'm having to make a lot of it. That's harder but still I just love that size of doll. SD it's the perfect sized doll for my lap. I really like the MSD sized dolls too, but I think SD is actually my favorite of the two...

20. I own a lot of SD sized and tinies! I like both a lot, but love the bigger ones more.
