Box opening: it's still exciting for you?

Oct 1, 2014

    1. I was thinking about my first doll's box opening... I remember how excited I was...
But I notice that (even if I desire so much every new doll I order), that the box opening hasnt been so exciting anymore, if I compared to the very first opening. It 's like Im already used to see a bjd (not like the first time, that I never touched resin material or see a bjd before), now Im simply happy when I open a new box, but not feeling that magic and wonder feeling that I felt the first time... I wonder if this happen also to someone else?
Im not bored by bjd, I m always sad because I wish I could buy a new one more often, but it happens really rarely for me! (I also wonder if the exciting of box opening decrease because I recently order my leatest 2 dolls from lati company, and the time waiting and the general experience with lati was so upsetting and long waiting, that I must admit I may be less exciting in the moment I finally, actually receive a lati doll...

I wonder if I should order an MSD again, it could be more exciting (also for the big size) than the tiny? Maybe Tiny dolls are less exciting than an MSD or DS??

I would like to read other people's feelings about it!
      Thanks!

    2. I didn't have that much box opening, but I'm pretty sure I can still feel the magic ; the excitement that grows for month, and when the doll finally arrives, WOW. This is it, this is the doll you've been wanted so much !
I guess having about one doll every year helps to not making "used" to it. It's something that's still quite rare for me, and as enjoyable as my first doll !

    3. I find it exciting, but I'm only fairly new to bjd's. I don't think it will wear off though, since I'm still exicted about opening christmas presents every year, lol

    4. After 3 Dollfie Dream, i find it exciting :3 (Well, maybe 3 it's still a little number lol)

    5. I still find it super exciting... So I guess after all this time the magic isn't gone yet for me. I always act like a child in a candystore and handle the new doll as if I've never touched another before which is ridiculous. It takes at least a few hours until I'm satisfied with touching and staring and dressing that I'm ready to "let go". Of course I bring them everywhere with me around the house afterwards, redress them a lot, and handle them/play with them as much as I can... And i its just a head? I'm a creeper since I tend to paint them, put eyes in them and wig them and then keep them around so I can stare at them... >A>

    6. I think I'm still excited when my new doll arrives and does box opening, although I already have many dolls :)

    7. I still find it exciting, though I no longer photograph every step of the opening process. It was slowing me down too much! Now I just rip into them to reveal my new doll asap. The only time I'm not super excited about a box opening is when the doll is blank and I have a specific face up in mind for it. I'm still happy, but I get really excited when I get the head back from the artist :D

    8. Hello Soul,

I was like you , waited for a doll in many many months until it arrived! But i was like expecting it for 2 weeks!
The momment I opened the box Im still excited but torturing at the sametime because of all the wait and agony (lol.)

So my strategy is to spread the work into for company so the waiting time will be cut into 4 ehehe.
I mean just relax and love your doll like its your own .

    9. My most recent doll, #7, was the one who I jumped up and down for when I got the shipping notice. And he's a Real Puki! An unpainted fullset, but still less than 10 cm tall. I should probably mention the biggest BJD I have is a 30 cm mature tiny.

    10. I've never found it too exciting, actually. Like I love seeing my new doll for the first time, but to be honest, it's usually a sense of relief that things got here safely. I have been known to let boxes sit there until other things are attended to and I can sit down with my camera and open it. New resin smell is too strong for me, so I usually like opening and letting the doll air out for at least a few hours before I start fussing with wigs and clothes.

    11. I still get really excited although I agree it is a bit different from my first, since I had never felt or seen resin dolls in person before. Now that I have more experience the excitement is still there but it's a slightly different kind of excitement.

    12. It is still exciting for me and it was always the best part of my doll. But it will be a lot different from the first one such as I wont be that careful again haha

    13. i guess the most exciting part for me is the box opening... that's why i keep buying and buying and buying and buying...

    14. I think there was a thread about this already...

My first bjd was 10 years ago and before I had a digital camera and before there were decent cameras in phones, so I didn't do box openings.

I still do them now, though! I like to see how dolls are packed up and what they come with. I like documenting it all just in case someone else might be interested. I like to see other people's Box Openings to see their dolls and also to see their excitement. I think it's fun. :)

    15. I love anticipating the arrival of a new doll as much as actually opening the box. It's fun to have something so wonderful to look forward to.

    16. I find it lots of fun still. When I open up my doll my husband usually likes to be around because I get so excited about my doll he finds it amusing. :P

I noticed in box openings that people usually open the cards and gifts they get from the company first. I go right for the doll, play with the joints for a while then open the little bags and certificates. Speaking of which I can't wait for my new girls. :dance It might be a few months still though... *sigh*

    17. Honestly, I'm excited to open anything that comes for me in the mail, ha. I get very excited to open them every time- but I'm not so into it that I feel a need to record the box opening or anything like that, as I know some people are.

    18. I love getting gifts and items in the mail, so after waiting for months for a new doll to come home, it's really a happy time. I enjoy other's box openings too. So much happiness!

    19. It will ALWAYS be exciting for me. That very first moment that I meet my doll. The very first connecting moment. Ah its so nice!!

    20. Oh, yes!!! It's still just exciting as my very first girl. It never gets old to me.
