It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. 1. I only have two dolls, one of which is on her way home.

But I was thinking about something....

Both of them are full package. I only buy dolls based on their full package. Like, do I like their face? Their outfit? Hair color? If the doll was cute and I didn't like the outfit or anything, I would forget about them.

So I was wondering what other people thought about this.

Like, some of you only buy a head or just a naked doll. I was starting to feel like that's how it's supposed to be done.

But I'm just so concerned with having everything together from the start, with professional face up and an outfit to wear. I don't like bald dolls too much and I don't have any doll painting skills. But is that not creative enough?

So, what is your opinion on full package dolls?

And you don't have to judge me. Just tell me how YOU feel about it.

      Edit: I may have worded some things wrong. D: But I wasn't exactly sure how to go about asking the question. Please don't feel negatively about me. ^^;

    2. Well, alot of people are in this hobby for personal costumization, and making them entirely their taste.
If a fullset is to your taste, then does it really matter? ;)

    3. That's a good way to put it. :)

    4. I have never bought a full set doll, because mainly..I'm cheap! LOL:sweat and I really can't justify some of the prices they are getting for the outfits...and I usually have an idea of how I want them to be anyway..and can make alot of my own clothes.
I've been in the hobby since late 05 so I do already have alot of clothes/shoes..but what I figure is, for the overpriced clothes they offer as a fullset I can get alot of different clothes and wigs instead of just one outfit.
But that may change if I get a Chiron Centaur, I would love to have him full set...

    5. I've fallen in love with the Fairyland MiniFee Ryeon Fullset (which is currently all sold out) and it was just the entire thing I loved about the doll that has me smitted about her. Though with my doll, a Bobobie An, the head had me in love with it as a blank! So it all depends on your personal taste. Every fullset will be slightly different, due to the face-up differences in color and maybe even wigs/eye color combinations.

I don't think its wrong to just buy fullsets. If you like an entire package then don't feel bad about getting the doll that way. ^^ In the end its how you feel about the doll and not what everyone else is doing to get their dolls.

    6. I personally dont care about the wig or outfit they are wearing, it more about the face sculpt to me, but everyone is different. If you like the fullset, have the money for it, and want it then why not! :3

    7. Thanks everyone. :)

Yeah... the face sculpt is an important factor, too...

    8. Not at all.

If you like a complete doll, there's nothing wrong with buying a fullset even though it's a BJD.

These dolls can be customized of course, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they have to be.

    9. If buying full sets was wrong, the companies wouldn't offer them. ;)

    10. Oh not 'wrong' at all, though perhaps unnecessary for some people. I tend to prefer to buy just the blank doll and build from the ground up, but I have purchased fullsets before. No waiting, no accidentally buying the wrong size/style/color whatever... they can be wonderfully easy. My first fullset was either Anais 2 or Saint Mina, I forget which. I did end up customizing them eventually, but I had fun playing with the things that came with them, and they didn't sit around naked waiting for clothing and wigs like so many of my dolls did/do! XD

    11. Nothing wrong with buying a fullset, at least your dollie wont be naked. You can always add extra clothes and wigs later to customize your doll. Part of the fun for me is changing the look.

    12. I like fullsets and things like them myself. :sweat For example, I plan on spending about $750 for a Volks FCS-02 MSD someday, when I could get a Mika/Ken (Same headmold) for about $380 without face-up, needs to be strung, sanded and coated, plus buying a new wig and eyes. When I add up the costs it comes out to about the same. :| Most would rather go for the Mika kit and save about $80, but since I'd be doing so much work on it I'd rather just save up and get it done all at once instead of spreading it out over time doing it little by little.

And on the other hand with getting a FCS, not only does it save alot of hunting, shipping and waiting, I can also get other special features. It may take away alot of the creativity of it, which would come with hunting down items from different places, and my selection is rather limited, but it works for me, so it can't be wrong. ;)

That's the thing. If it works for you, it's not wrong. Companies wouldn't do it if people didn't want and like them, which they clearly do.

    13. I don't think so.

They will have their own personalities and in time they will look totally different from their full set.

So there's nothing wrong with that

    14. Good Lord buy what YOU want. No one else is playing with that doll so why get your knickers in a twist over their opinion?

    15. Oh no, I'm not. I was just wondering. If maybe I'd better connect with a doll that is incomplete. Because no one really ever talks about full packages. I thought maybe I was missing out on something.

    16. My next official doll is going to be one of the Fairyland full packages, but those come with just about everything, sleeping heads, both faceups, heel parts, clothes, random eyes, necklace, shoes, random wig... When my friend bought a LE, she ended up spending about the same amount with all the features for the cost of the Fairlyand fullset anyway, so I just thought that the full package was a better deal. It was not to say that I fell in love with those hair and eyes, either, because instead of as pictured, those are sent at random, but my character needs to have custom hair and eyes as is.

So, I wouldn't say that it's wrong, because you don't have to stick with that fullset, it's not like that's really set in stone for any other outfits or wigs. If you get tired with something of that full set, it's not like the company'll chase after you for switching eyes or something. It's still your doll.

    17. I'm the type that doesn't typically concentrate much on outfits, limiteds, or 'full sets', and instead look strictly at the face and body mold ^^; . That's the most important part to me, and I would only get a limited or full-set over just a body if it was the only way I could get that particular mold/resin skin/whatever. But I've seen some full-sets that look so beautiful, I think it would be nice to have one. You can always add more to the doll later, buy more wigs or clothes, so starting with a pretty full-set seems like a nice idea! Especially if you're not sure when you'll buy more doll stuff, if you're a 'pace yourself' kind of spender, it's kind of sad to have a doll that isn't dressed up in anything yet.

    18. I've bought a few full sets, and for me, its a good starting point, but I usually change things on them pretty fast. I guess the thing that bothers me about full sets is that I don't want my doll to be just like someone elses. I may really love their stock outfit, but I can't help but think that I can make my doll unique by simply buying a different outfit, changing the hair or eyes...and sometimes this leads to pleasant surprises, like your doll looking totally different and amazing, a look that you never would have imagined. I know that on more than one occassion, I've been blown away by simple changes and I love my doll even more after that.

Theres nothing wrong with keeping your doll stock. Afterall, that was the image you fell in love with. Maybe later down the road you can explore changes if you want to. If you have a few dolls of the same size, change their outfits or wigs around and see how you feel about it. Or, love them as they are. They're yours after all, no one elses.

    19. i havent bought a fullset, but i did just get my first head, i like the idea of complete customization so i prolly will never buy a fullset.

    20. Yes, that was my original intention. :) I just wanted a fully equipped doll first... THEN when I was able I'd get more outfits. Because I don't want her to be just like anyone else's doll. Even though... she really never will be in spirit. :)

I have thought about different wigs, but at the moment I can only imagine her with her current one! XD And it has to be pink... I love pink hair. lol
