Dollshe and the sculptor may not advertise his products on this forum. Sales may not be discussed, no news threads may be posted regarding new releases. Can I Find Out How Old My Doll Is?

    1. I just bought my very first doll, a Soulkids Shaun, second hand and the previous owner didn't know when he was made as she was not the first owner. He has his certificate and I just wondered if there was any way of finding out how old he is by the certificate information? Is there any way I can look up his number or would I have to contact Souldoll? Would they even know? Has anyone ever tried to look up their doll's production date? :?

      It's not a huge deal or anything, I was just kind of curious to how old he is. Thanks in advance!

    2. If you talk to the company (usually via a Q&A board), they can probably help you so long as you have his paperwork.

    3. Unless you can track down the original owner, you would have to contact Souldoll. Even then, they might not have an exact date. They've only been making Shaun since Nov 2011 so he can't be all that old.

    4. That is an interesting question. I wish owners would try and keep track of when their doll was made, so when they sell it, that information can be passed on to the new owners. It's sometimes helpful to know when the doll was made, for possibly matching resins due to color changes by the company or guessing if it might be more mellowed than newer dolls, etc. and also might help to know if there are different type bodies.

      I wonder how much information the company keeps on their own dolls? It seems that most certificates are only to say that "this is Official--thank you for buying our doll!" rather than keep serial numbers and precise information... I guess it would depend on if the company could trace any numbers, if there were numbers. Or kept track of what was sold when.

      There are a number of buyers/sellers who don't keep track of the age of their dolls or the dolls they buy, though. So I'd imagine it's a very common thing not to know, and fairly difficult to try and find out...!

Thanks for the info you guys! @April, yes that is exactly why I've been wanting to know because I've been considering getting him some more hands and wanted to figure out what would match his resin, the previous owner didn't know if he had yellowed at all because she didn't have anything to compare him with. Fortunately, the certificate does have some ID numbers on it, so maybe if I ask Souldoll about it they will know what the numbers mean. I'll give it a try and let you guys know what I find out! Thank you all!

      Ok! So I messaged Souldoll and got a super quick response (like, in about an hour) and they were able to tell me when he was made! Yay! He was made in Nov. 2012. So now I wonder how much yellowing he has. Lol.
