1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Canadian Doll Owners?

Jul 8, 2013

    1. ~~If this is in the wrong place, moderators, please let me know so i can move it! :D~~

      Hey there!

So, for a while now, my friend and I have been planning on opening a doll store in Ontario. We're not quite sure where yet (probably in Square One in Mississauga, Toronto, or Oakville). We were wondering; How many people would be interested in coming? Coming, looking at the dolls, maybe trying on some doll clothes...like Build-A-Bear workshop but for BJDs! :D Anyways, if anyone could please fill out the following, er, form (for lack of a better word) or just comment your opinion, it would be greatly appreciated!
      Current City and/or Province:
      Would you visit us?:
What would you look for in a good doll store?:
What would you not like to see in the store?
Would there be any specific things in the store that you would like to see or be interested in buying?:
Are there any doll brands you think would be crucial to deal?:
Any name suggestions? (ShidehDolls is our first choice for now):
Is ShidehDolls a name you would remember?:
      Any other notes:

      Thanks! :D :D

    2. Oh boy, Canadian based store??? hell yes it's a brilliant idea. I myself don't travel (health and finance both issues). However if it also had an online component I'd definitely love it.

My dream store idea... well I'd say take a page from Mint On Card's physical store... hell look into a franchise deal LOL. But MOC from what little I've seen just from in here looks pretty damn good. Even if it was smaller. Them being able to be the host of local meets is awesome too.

Frankly I'd kill for one in Alberta *Edmonton would be even better ~_^ *

    3. Are you seriously serious about this?! @3@ <( <3 ) 'Cause if you are...I, a super scary anti-social lady, will personally go there on the opening day to gift you a nice piece of doll furniture for your shop! I live in Scarborough, so a Toronto store would be nuts! I'd spend a lot less on shipping, and more on the stuff I'd want. And yeah, Mint on Card is a great example of a physical shop. If local meet up were a possibility, I'd be there...not saying a word, and looking rather scary, but I'd be there. I'm just a scary looking doll owner...! X3 You should probably post something about this all in the forums at http://www.sobjds.ca/ , if you're not pulling my leg... @3@ <( <3 )

    4. Current City and/or Province: Ottawa, ON
Would you visit us?: I would love too! The only reasons why I haven't been to Mint On Card is because it's hard to get there in public transit, so going to one in Canada would be much more doable, plus my local groups could organize road trips.
What would you look for in a good doll store?: I think a good diversity is the key. Also having a physical store is great, but having an online one would be good too. Since shipping within Canada wouldn't be too bad and it means no customs fees.
Would there be any specific things in the store that you would like to see or be interested in buying?: I would more be looking for Accessories, Furniture, Clothes, etc more than actual dolls. In the case of clothes for example, it's sometimes hard to tell when buying online if they are really what I want and if they would fit my doll, something that would be easier to tell when seeing it in real life. Same goes for other kinds of accessories.
Are there any doll brands you think would be crucial to deal?: None in particular, having known brands is a plus, but also having less known ones can lead to discoveries!
Any name suggestions? (ShidehDolls is our first choice for now): I don't really have one, but I don't personally like ShidehDoll either
Is ShidehDolls a name you would remember?: Not really, Shideh is an uncommom name and is a bit odd to pronounce. It doesn't tell anything, and having no meaning associated to it makes it harder to remember. It doesn't sound very Canadian either, not that a good name doesn't necessarily have to be, but I think that it's something that could help. (For example I remember the name of the LysDoll store from Quebec easily because the Lys is something associated to Quebec)

    5. Market research is not welcome on Den of Angels. Business ventures must be decided independently by owners of that business.
