1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. With long wait times for dolls. Would you pay extra to get it in a couple weeks instead of months? How much more would you be willing to shell out to get your doll quicker? Or is waiting part of the fun?! :D

    2. Waiting is DEFINITELY part of the fun. :)
Also, I feel like the longer it takes, the better the quality will be.

    3. Not me--they cost enough money as it is! ;)

    4. I don't think a higher price is going to get the companies to make the doll faster. It's most likely not possible. The general 4 week waiting period is not for their amusement, it's for fabricating the doll. They are handcrafted, so they just take a lot of time.

    5. In some instances I would. For example, if I really wanted a doll in by a certain date (birthday, Christmas, before a move, etc), I would be willing to pay more for faster shipping. The most extra I would pay would be around $25 though, which isn't that much considering the cost of the dolls.

    6. Generally speaking, most dolls that come from a company arrive relatively quickly once they are shipped. In countries that have customs, it can take longer, but EMS is very fast shipping, all things considered. ^_^

    7. I was thinking more as a general idea just for discussion... but specifically, there is a doll I want in stock at a place that is $100 more then if I bought it from the company. I was just wondering what others would do. Buy the instock doll or get it from the company direct! ;)

    8. It wouldn't sit right with me if it was situation where you could pay extra to 'jump the queue' and get your doll before someone else because you can pay more. But if it was a situation where the doll was in stock, or on the MP, but was up to $100 more... I'd prob pay that to get the instantly available doll :whee: Particularly if they were in Europe, hence no custom charge risk.

    9. Exactly. Boy, they are quite costly... And waiting is fun anyway. Kinda. xD

    10. Actually, I did this! I didn't want to wait weeks or months for Volks USA to get their shipment of SD13 girls and the wait was killing me! I paid an extra $150 (because of yen to dollar conversion) to buy from Volks Japan. I got her in 4 days, and I was very VERY glad that I did! I was waiting since 2009 when she came out, so now that I had finally saved up the money I needed her immediately!

*I later found out that she didn't come in to Volks USA for another few months. :sweat

    11. Yeah, then it may divide the community into elitism - who can pay more to jump the queue vs who can't! (I'm just speculating though, I doubt it would happen! ;) )

Considering most companies take 4-6 weeks to make and ship, I wouldn't pay extra myself. If the company was known to take a lot longer, I'd be more inclined to pay up. So it wouldn't be making the company quicker, it'd just be making it part of the 'normal wait times' group!

    12. I wouldn't pay. if I want my doll to get here faster I order from the MP ;) I'm way to cheap to pay extra!
anyway waiting can be a good thing! during the 1-2 month of wait I can get back some money to order clothes. so her/his clothes arrive at the same (or arround the same time) as my doll :)

    13. Forget it! I'm not that impatient. I'd rather use the extra money for more dolls.

As it is, I try for the longest layaways possible. I'm not that rolling in extra cash that I can't just sit and wait. If they paid me extra money to WAIT LONGER, I would be all over that! *_*

    14. Right now I need to keep costs to the bare minimum, so I shouldn't... but I often buy secondhand which negates the problem. However, when I bought my MNF Karsh I ordered through a dealer... and it took nearly a month longer than it would have from the company. It ended up being nearly 4 months total I think, and toward the end of that time I was seeing people who ordered from the company AFTER me get their dolls and I really, really wished I'd just shelled out the few extra dollars (probably $20 or so) to order direct. I wouldn't pay a LOT more, but if it was under $20 or $30 more and cut the wait time by 3 weeks or more I'd seriously consider it.

    15. I order and then forget about the wait. By the time they actually arrive, I have recovered from the hit to my bank balance and it's like getting a present in the mail. I don't think I want to pay any more than necessary.

    16. Nope! One, they cost enough already. Second, as much as it stinks to wait, as much as I want to claw my eyes out... I would rather not rush an artist doing their craft. It would be like telling Rembrandt to just finish up a painting or telling Tarantino that his editing time has been cut from a year to two months. Maybe that is the the "artist" in me fighting to be able to do my craft when, and why, and how long I want to.

    17. this is what I do :) well at least until I get the shipping notice

I will pay a bit extra for quicker shipping but I'm unlikely to pay more for the doll itself unless its a gift for someone else

I guess I might be tempted to pay a bit extra to buy from a dealer who had a doll in stock if I knew a company was having significant delays (like a 6 month + wait) but touch wood though I have never had a particularly long wait, and even then I wouldn't be willing to pay a lot more
