Confessions of Doll love: First time <3

Oct 24, 2011

    1. Okay, so I own two dolls already and I just got my third. This one is different. Maybe its because he's my first stung or something. I can not put him down! Before I was nervous about taking my first two out and about but this little guy I'm talking all over the place and feel like I have to be holding him! It might be that he was an early Christmas gift, but I don't know lol. Its not a bad thing, it feels very good to want to carry him all over the place. (he's in my lap right now lol)

anyone else been thought this, with either your first doll or one a few dolls down the line?

      <3

    2. I was like that when got my first BJD. I would take/ carry him everywhere. He even went to work with me.
I also did the same I think with my first MSD. She was a birthday gift from all my friends. But I can't have my dolls out all the time now (darn cat)

    3. I know this feeling, I've had this feeling of "Doll-Love" with dolls that I've 'completed'. Meaning, I've finished getting their face-ups perfect, the exact right wig, and default outfit.

I become completely enamored with the doll to the point where I carry them around for weeks.

    4. Darpie oh nose cat troubles D: get a squirt bottle! Our cat recently chewed on my girlfriends Dollzone dragon girl ;w;. and whew i'm glad I'm not the only one! I'm getting my first MSD tomorrow SO EXCITED!!

Elysion gear hah, I haven't done his face up and body blushing yet. He's eyes and wig are prefect!! <3 So i may never put him down if i love his face up and blushing lol.

    5. I've never carted a doll around with me everywhere, but when my wife and I got Grace and Ash, our first, I couldn't stop playing with them. We kept fawning over them, and I'd keep adjusting their poses. We took a lot of photos, and let them have center display on the dresser for a long time.

Since I've begun work on him again, my SD boy, Alan, has been hanging out with us a lot. He's been sitting on the couch for the past few days, and I keep playing with him. We're waiting on his wig, still, but I finally got his eyes, and they're lovely!!

I've been wanting to start taking my 1/6 around, too, to show her off. I took her to work once before, but where I'm around food and a frier, I worry about her and her clothing absorbing odors or grease in the air.

    6. I think I have this. I'm always looking around for clothes, shoes and wigs for my doll. I'm pretty new to the hobby. I'm already trying to find my doll a matching boyfriend. I always want to take her out and take photos but I'm pretty busy. I do take her out to dinner every week because no one ever wants to get sushi with me.

    7. I was also like this with my first doll. It was mainly because I couldn't believe I could save and pay for my own.

    8. I think I have different love for my dollies <3
Elgin is my baby, he's a tall 70cm Dollzone Wing. He's like my Mini man, he's sturdy, and I use to put him up on my shoulders and he'd pretty much just ride there all day. :D
So, he's irreplacable he'll never leave.
Judas is my little Minifee, I find myself running around with him more than any of my others. He just loves being picked up and carried <3

    9. Heiroglyphica awww cute, My boy did managed to get to work but not while I was working. It was funny! I picked up a shift as well *yeah*

knightjeran awwww ;w; that is sad! If you lived in Minnesota I'd got do doll sushi with you and bring my boy :D!!!

writerm Yeah I'm about to get my first ever I SAVED for this doll today. *glee*

Angelesk Sweet! I think the little ones are easier to handle my boys a Dollzone Deer boy and he's pocket size :D!

    10. I'm still like that with Amir and Loki. I'd take them everywhere if I could. Amir was my first, Loki was my second character, the doll has since been upgraded, but I've had these two for over 3 years and the love for them keeps growing. No matter how many dolls I go through, these two stay in the top spots in my heart. <3

    11. I've had three big doll loves :) All of my dolls have been my favourite and whoever becomes my favourite is on a rotation basis :lol: I will always have a soft spot for three particular dolls though;

My SDC Kurt, Rupert, was the first boy doll I ever connected with. As soon as I saw him I knew he was perfect, but I had a bit of a panic when I saw he was an LE from 2006, and I only discovered him in 2008! Luckily for me he wasn't a popular limited, I was able to buy him from the Volks International site and save me some money from buying on the aftermarket. As soon as I opened the box I was in love. I didn't take him everywhere with me outside the house (his LE hands are pretty much irreplaceable and I was terrified of snapping a finger for the first six months I had him), but I carried him everywhere inside the house and had him sat beside me whenever I was on the computer or just sitting reading a book.

I once thought about selling him because I have a preference for girls, but when I put him back in the box I felt absolutely miserable and I just can't imagine not having him around. I love my frog prince!

I was also like this when I got my YoSD. Mari's arrival coincided with a very unhappy break-up in 2009, and unlike all the other dolls I had at the time she hadn't been touched or played with by my exboyfriend, so not only was she a shiny new doll, she wasn't associated with him which made her all the more adorable to me

She and I were inseperable for a long time, I used to find it comforting to have her sit on my knee or in the crook of my elbow and be with me whatever I was up to. I took her with me when I went out, even if she only ever stayed in my bag. After I started to reorganise my collection and sell the dolls that had unhappy memories attached to them I didn't spend so much time with Mari. I didn't fall out of love with her, not at all, but she definitely helped me stay with the hobby at a time when I was very unhappy and could have sold all my dolls and left.

The third big love of my doll collection is my SD Megu, Mafonwen. I bought her head and body seperately on the marketplace here and putting her together and sourcing the right wig, eyes, clothes...has been a wonderful bonding process. I could never sell her, she has the bonkers oldskin body with the crazy legs and as much as it drives me insane, it's also a part of why I love her to bits. She might not stand very well, but she's a wonderful snuggler, her body seems to fall naturally into really sweet poses and she photographs extremely well.

    12. I'm like that with my Kale and Syan, when I first got them I couldn't stop playing with them and carrying them around. =)

I kind of feel guilty now since I can't play with them as much anymore because I've been busy with work. :...(

    13. i do have a doll love and she is my first doll, the feeling is very strong and i only have one doll, i go different websites and see other dolls the feeling is just soso

the feeling i have for my doll is something like a sister bond, a lot of my friend notices my strong bond with my doll lol

    14. Okay, so I got my second doll I ordered (FINALLY) yesterday and I feel she and my boy are going to be on top for a great deal of time <3~ She is amazing!!!

owo and my boy likes her....and shes in love with my girls 70cm which was VERY unexpected!

    15. I don't carry my doll around constantly, but I have a feeling that when I finally--after 10 months of waiting--get my Ringdoll Sol, I'm not going to want to put him down!

    16. I totally have this. I don't take my boy everywhere, per-say, but I do take him out a lot. I also like to fiddle with him in the evenings after work--such as mess with his wig, adjust his pose, etc. I can't help it. I finally got a decent do on his faceup and got him a pretty wig. I'll probably play with him more once I get his new eyes and boots in--once he feels truly, complete.

I can't imagine what it'll be like when my Honey Delf or my Iple Storm gets here. :D

    17. I know that feeling! I thought I was just being weird, wanting to drag my guy everywhere, changing his outfits a lot...

I don't think it's going to stop though. xD

    18. I've got just one doll, my Sayuki, and I'd love to bring her everywhere, but I know people would think I'm weird so I prefere to let her at home and play with her when I'm here:sweat
ahah, thought at first I didn't really like her and now I'm totally in love!!!!!:D

    19. I got my first BJD and I definitely feel that way. I had so much fun when I got to take my girl out to the movies with me. I like to hold her and fuss over her. Last night she sat in my lap while I played video games. :)

I'm so excited for my Crobi boy to get here. I know I'm going to want to show him off to everyone and cuddle him constantly! XD

    20. Heh, I've had that happen to a couple of dolls too, out of the six I owned so far.

It's a pretty well-guarded secret, but when I still had this guy, I used to sleep with him. >< I'd just kind of put him on top of my duvet and lie there very quietly. I'm usually a pretty active sleeper, but he was heavy enough for me to be "aware" of his presence in my sleep, so I wouldn't move while I slept with him on top. I think it was yeah - when I finally completed his character and his look, I was just really happy that he looked just right. He also travelled with me to big things, like airplane trips and such.

It's not quite the same with Peppermint, since he's too small for me to keep track of him, and my boyfriend is a REALLY active, pushy and sound sleeper so he'd crush him without a pause. Instead, even though Peppermint is very much still a work in progress, I just can't help but drag him around with me everywhere, even while he was incomplete and only had a pair of sweats to his name. It's especially convenient with his little Soom sleeping bag - you can just zip him in there, put him in your purse and go. I am in a different room now though, and I keep my dolls in my dresser, which is right next to my bed, so there's still a little bit of that too. :)

I had a bit of that going with my first doll, but he was too big and too much of a WIP, so he didn't get to do much other than travel to vacation destinations (but a lot of my dolls do).
