1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

contests on social media?

Oct 5, 2014

    1. I've been browsing a few social medias and came a cross some contests that have ball jointed dolls as the prize , just wondering if they are real? have you ever entered any? and where are the official safe one held ? :/

    2. I'm not present on most social media platforms but at least on Facebook I've never seen contests with BJDs as the prize. :sweat Do you mean non-BJD communities or doll companies?

Mind to clarify it a bit please? I honestly can't imagine that some contests of non-BJD communities got real dolls as a price but my curiosity's also piqued! :?

This also means I've never joined any contest like this, but if the doll is legit and the entry is free or a charity lottery - why not?

    3. I've never seen any such contests. . But then aside from one or two companies I really don't follow anything officially doll related on social media platforms. As the other person said, if it's not a contest put up by an actual doll community with some kind of reputation I would question its legitimacy. . Especially since dolls arent *that* mainstream that they'd make for a good prize to the general public. But, if it is an actual community with an actual name/brand attached to it/sponsoring the contest/etc - why not ?

    4. Sometimes artists do these kinds of contests. Mirror Magic did one, for example, to promote their doll, as did I to promote mine. As with all contests and other things it's best to do your research. Look up the source and see if they're reliable by checking reviews about them :).

    5. @Collie , Shears and Silk - Oops it was prize not price :sweat gosh i feel foolish ...(:pout:

    6. JunkySpot's facebook page used to have contests and usually the prizes were accessories, eyes, props, wigs, but sometimes they would be dolls. This was several years ago, and I've since left FB, so I'm not sure if they still do it.

    7. I haven't heard about contest with a prize as a doll before but I know that Think Pink (a dealer from Netherlands) has a raffle prize program on the end of the year. Last year raffle prize is a MSD size BJD.:)

    8. Pipos has twitter contests once in awhile. I won one, once! :D

Always research the company behind such a contest. Pipos was the one holding theirs so of course it was legitimate. :3

    9. thank you CloakedSchemer , Hallowie29 and Koka :) i've seen it on tumblr, deviantart ,etc and a website i found a few months ago but don't remember the link :sweat

    10. I see a lot more "I am giving things away at random, and one of them happens to be a BJD" contests. As they're usually free, "you get what you pay for" is sort of a factor.

    11. I entered a contest Latidoll was hosting on their Facebook page for a fullset Largo. I won, and I did get my doll indeed! Heck, his hand arrived broken and they even sent me a replacement. Now, this is from the company itself on their own Facebook page, so it's not surprising it was a legitimate contest.

    12. It's definitely a matter of checking up on whoever's hosting it, honestly. Anyone can go on social media and post whatever they want, after all!

I did enter a raffle earlier this year, though a UK dealer that was closing up shop and raffling off some of their remaining stock; I won, and did receive the doll (she's lovely), so I'll add my voice to those that have received something! But I did also check that the shop was legit and had solid reviews here before entering. (And really, was entering for the charity donation part of the raffle, rather than the actual prize, but I was still pretty thrilled to win.)

    13. oh okay thank you Seanan :)
