1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Converting SD to MSD - Can it be done?

Oct 31, 2014

    1. I've wondered this for a while as I'm an MSD person but I absolutely adore sculpts from the likes of Migidoll and Crobidoll and I wish these sculpts could be in MSD size so I could make my characters!

Having yet to find an answer I'm wondering:
is there a way to shrink resin so the head can go to MSD size?
are there any known mods that can be done?
Would a company or have they done such a thing per request already?

thoughts? I'm clueless and would love some answers! :XD:

    2. Short answer: No to all of them!

Longer answer: No, because resin doesn't have the same properties as shrink plastic :sweat It can bend with heat or chemicals, but it will always have the same volume.
If you were to mod a doll, you would have to cut slices out of the doll head and glue them together (much like this youtube vid of 'scientific' cake cutting!), which would destroy the facial features you love.

What some companies have done is create little versions of popular dolls. They're not completely identical, but you can tell one is supposed to be a smaller version of the other. Because Migidoll and Crobidoll don't have MSD dolls, my suggestion is to go to the Photo Reference subforum on here, and search for MSD versions of who you're looking for. They're super popular, there must be someone who's already asked :D

    3. Migidoll does have MSD sized dolls, and they do actually look a lot like their SD versions....

    4. That's the answer I was looking for! Thank you for your help! I was almost going to go science-y and try some experiments X'D
I shall take a look and hopefully find something e.e
I wonder if I really am not the only one to question this XD

    5. I think most of us play with the idea/hope it would be possible at some point? XD I know I did! How perfect would it be if you could have any sculpt in your preferred size! But it's fun to look for SD and MSD versions of your favorite doll too, and some companies make smaller and bigger versions of their molds, so that is as close as we're going to get I'm afraid ;)
