Dealing With Shifts in Size Difference

Jun 14, 2013

    1. Hey there, sorry if this has been done before.... I just purchased a 16cm doll, but the two I have already are 60cm. Obviously, that's a huge size difference. I was wondering if handling such a large size difference in your dolls bothered you in any way or if it felt weird at first or what. I haven't gotten the little one yet, but I was wondering if there's some adjustment time needed or if maybe she'll feel the same as my huge SDs. Just a little curious on how everyone handles their scale differences. Sorry if that was hard to understand or off-topic or whatever...

    2. I also have a 60cm and a 16cm. For me it doesn't feel weird just very different. My little one is so light! I take my little one less serious (easier to "play" with). Because I can take her out, pose her on a small table ext :) My little one is also easier to dress. However I still adore big dolls because they are more mature.

    3. Oh cool! Yeah, I'm looking forward to the easy transport of my tiny girl. I feel like I'm going camping the way I have to pack up my SDS. I also thought that a little guy might be HARDER to dress... Glad to know that it's not a bother for you!

    4. My largest doll is 75 cm (Dragon Doll Uncle with a Minimee head), my smallest 9 cm (Realpuki). The difference in size is tremendous! :) I also got several different-sized SDs, on MSD, two Minifees, two of the 30 cm Lumedolls and two Tinies (around 16 cm, I think). Every one of them handles differently. I like the weight my big boys got. I like that my SD13 is lighter than them, while he's still larger than my smaller dolls. I like how easy the Minifees are to carry. Right now, my newest girl (a MNF Marcia) is my absolute favourite. But that really changes, depending on which of my dolls I'm getting new stuff for.

    5. After owning ten SD-size dolls I bought a 26cm LTF and then a 14cm Tinybear Bracken and didn't find it too weird or difficult. I was actually amazed at how such small things could be so detailed and nicely-sculpted - made me feel that certain SD-scale dolls could have a bit more detail on them, for their size! I love how the tiniest doll fits snugly into my hand, while I need to use both hands to even hold my biggest doll, and I really enjoy the difference in size. Variety is the spice of life, you know ^^

    6. When I see 2 different sized dolls like that, I feel all weird :sweat I love the dolls in general but to me they look weird together. I don't know, maybe its just me.

    7. I started off owning 1/3 sized dolls, so when I bought my first mini, I was surprised at how light she was, and how easy she held poses compared to the large ones. I didn't have to worry so much about her falling over, because she doesn't have as far a distance to fall. Now I've sold all my minis, but bought a tiny (26cm), and I'm still amazed by how small and light and easily posable the small dolls are to 1/3s.

But I still like 1/3s for their weight and presence. There's just more doll to enjoy! Smaller dolls just can't compare to that, in fact, I ended up selling my minis because I loved my big dolls more.

    8. I started out with the slim mini sized... then got a few LTF's, and now I have my first SD sized doll. I love 'em all. The variety is what makes 'em fun. I think depending on the style of the dolls weather or not they fit well together (ex. slim or chubby, or mature or immature, anime or realistic). I've found I like a bit more realistic sculpts with the bigger dolls, but the little ones have to have a cuteness to them. My LTF pairs up well with both my Soulkid and my FeePle65, but of course my SoulKid doesn't pair up well with my F65 as they both have mature bodies. I think though if I stuck to one size I would get bored over time.

    9. Thank you so much! I had no idea that posing little dolls would be easier. My friends have minis, but I didn't seem to like their size too much.

    10. My 15cm doll is my 60cm doll's baby <3 So I take photos like This One :)

    11. I started with a 75 cm Dollzone boy, then got a 65 cm Soom Chrom, and then I got a Puki Puki Rose!! Haha. 10 cm...man she was small! My neighbor, who was a doll friend, sold her to me when she decided to leave the hobby. I thought I would love her, especially because she was unwanted by her previous owner, but we just couldn't connect. She was just much, much too small for me. I ended up selling her. :( MSD dolls are surely the "size for me" I have found out, after being almost all over the map. I personally think its important to experiment like that with different sizes however to find what is right for you!

    12. (duskblue- that is so cute!) And I really hope that I don't end up hating the doll and think that she's too small... But, I agree, I think that experimentation has to be done so that I know what I like.
