1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Different dolls with same name... or looks similar

Jan 14, 2013

    1. There are common names used around by the bjd business and by owners, some more than others. I was actually thinking of owning Aurora's from Dollzone, Elfdoll, and B&G. They're all so beautiful and different from each other! When Soom Clozel came up, I kept on thinking that she could be B&G Aurora's mom or something. XD
I decided that it was rather unnecessary so I tossed the thought. Although I liked how they all look, who I really want to own is B&G Aurora.

When you pick the dolls for your lineup, has it ever crossed your mind to buy dolls from different companies but with same names?

Did you ever plan on getting dolls that look like they could be relatives? Or it just happened?

Did you ever meet another doll owner who's doll has the same name as yours?

What was your response to meeting up with other owners who has the same sculpt?

    2. When you pick the dolls for your lineup, has it ever crossed your mind to buy dolls from different companies but with same names?
No, most of my doll's sculpts do not have namesakes at other companies, (well maybe there are a few Ambers out there). and even if they did, I don't think the similarity in names would make me buy a doll.

Did you ever plan on getting dolls that look like they could be relatives? Or it just happened?
When I bought my Soom Aphan and was waiting for him to come home I did debate getting a kid delf Bori,
those boys faces are so alike, they could be brothers, or cousins. but since Aphan came with two heads i just made 2 dolls out of that.

Did you ever meet another doll owner who's doll has the same name as yours?
Maybe in sculpt name, but then I do not recognise every sculpt by name.
But I am pretty sure I have never met an other owner who just happened to give his/her doll the same name as I gave mine.

What was your response to meeting up with other owners who has the same sculpt?
I love it , it is so interesting to see what others make of a sculpt, there are so many posibilities.

    3. When you pick the dolls for your lineup, has it ever crossed your mind to buy dolls from different companies but with same names?
I've considered the possibility, but I'm pretty sure only one of my dolls has a sculpt-name sister from a different company. Funny enough, I own my Doll Chateau Bella and my close friend has her Dreaming Doll Bella. :)

Did you ever plan on getting dolls that look like they could be relatives? Or it just happened?
I planned on siblings, but they're also the same sculpt from the same company, one of which was nodded. So I don't think this quite counts.

Did you ever meet another doll owner who's doll has the same name as yours?
As mentioned above, my close friend also has a Bella sculpt from a differently. This same friend also has a doll named Luna, which is also the name of one of my dolls.

What was your response to meeting up with other owners who has the same sculpt?
I think I can safely say I've only ever met owners with dolls from the same company, not necessarily the same sculpt. It is wonderful to see the sculpts I own styled differently by users here. I love all the creative interpretations of a sculpt, and their versatility never fails to amaze me!

    4. I've never planned to buy sculpts of the same name from different companies. They're too expensive to buy on a whim like that; I want to really enjoy the doll, not the coincidence. None of my dolls look like relatives, either, and I haven't planned for something like that to occur.

I haven't met any doll owners whose dolls have the same names as mine (yet), but I remember when I was very new to the hobby and thought it to be very small and insular, a company came out with a doll of the same name as mine, and I reacted badly. I thought that since we were so small and that DoA was the "motherboard", they must have been spying and taken my doll's names! Oh, to be young again...

I've always enjoyed meeting owners with the same sculpts. It shows possibilities that I may not have noticed yet and can often rekindle my love for my own doll.

    5. When searching for children for my couple Xavier and Jibriel I looked for sculpts that looked like them. We've met a few Xaviers in passing and are always happy to see them. I've seen other Dollzones but no other Fei, Tintan, or Nani yet. I think if X ever saw another Fei IRL he'd be beside himself.

    6. I chatted with a girl on here who had a Silas before; I think it's way cool! It's like, the perfect chance to talk about someones doll with them, and laugh over how different they are!

    7. When you pick the dolls for your lineup, has it ever crossed your mind to buy dolls from different companies but with same names?
Not really. It's funny if they do, but I choose a doll for how it looks, not its name.

Did you ever plan on getting dolls that look like they could be relatives? Or it just happened?
I have several dolls that are related. Some look more alike than others. My 5star Edmund is the son of 5star Tumnus, they look a lot alike. My Asleep Eidolon Adzuki Bean is the son of my DZ Mo, they look alike. My Soom Ender is the ancient ancestor of my AoD Gu.....they have a couple of similarities, but are far from clones.

Did you ever meet another doll owner who's doll has the same name as yours?

Considering my second boy's name is Loki Edward and has been for 5 years.....ahhh....yeahhhh.......

What was your response to meeting up with other owners who has the same sculpt?
I think it's interesting to see all the different things people do with the same base. Of my dolls, the ones I've met in person that shared a sculpt were BBD Waltz, DZ Mo, AoD Chen, BBD Draven, Obitsu Haruka, Angelheim Venetio, and Crobidoll Ys. They've all been completely different, except the Dravens, b/c we intentionally made them twins. :D The only way I'd be upset over seeing someone else with the same sculpt is if they blatantly tried to copy my doll, especially if they told me they bought it just to look like mine.

    8. Doll names don't really matter to me. The only time I'd buy a doll with the same name as another sculpt is if it was the same sculpt in a different line, like my Delf Els and my LTF El.

    9. "Did you ever meet another doll owner who's doll has the same name as yours?"
Well, I met a girl with a "black swan" character. My doll at the time was also a "black swan," but he has since changed. I didn't mind at all, although initially I thought I'd be jealous, but I think we decided that mine would be her doll's teacher in ballet. xD (Mine was an SD, hers was MSD, I think.)

    10. When you pick the dolls for your lineup, has it ever crossed your mind to buy dolls from different companies but with same names?
Nope. Mold names mean less than nothing to me.

Did you ever plan on getting dolls that look like they could be relatives? Or it just happened?
I did. Dollmore has a few dolls who's "story" claims they are all related, and they definitely look it. I have them all. I am also highly attracted to dolls with the same general look, though a lot of times I don't realize it until I see those dolls in person. I have always lusted after Crobidolls Yeon Ho, one day I saw one in person and realized he could easily be related to my Kara Klum...Everything about them was totally similar, and I knew that's why I'd always liked that mold. Oddly enough this killed off some of my desire to actually own that mold (though I still love it and every time I see one second hand have to force myself not to buy him lol).

Did you ever meet another doll owner who's doll has the same name as yours?
Strangely, no.....I am sure they're out there, but I've I've never met them. That I know of....

What was your response to meeting up with other owners who has the same sculpt?
I love it. I always try to enable people to buy the dolls I love XD
I've actually gone out of my way to own a mold owned by someone I know, and I've sold a mold I owned two of to a friend so now we both have one, someone in my area is buying a sculpt I've owned forever and hers is the only other one in the area and I can't wait to see him....I love it when stuff I like is appreciated, dolls included.
