Do doll owners dream of resin?

I dreamed I received a posthumous gift from my grandma. One was a SOOM Idealian and the other one was some kind of MSD. I had the bright dream idea to swap the heads (why?) but then I Lost The Brain. I don’t even want an idealian… I was freaking out when I woke up.

I know it was never going to work but now I’m like, curious…

 

I do often! The most memorable would be when I found a few dolls I somehow managed to forget I had? Can't imagine it happening in real life since I only have 20 dolls and work with them regularly, but it was really exciting in the dream!

 

I've dreamed about my dolls! Usually the dream is about finding a beautiful doll I've always wanted in some unexpected place and feeling very lucky and very happy! Luckily, I've never had any nightmares about stolen dolls or melting dolls or whatever...

 

I've been in the hobby over a decade and I'm very reclusive so, being a big part of my life and having an active dream life too, I've dreamed about bjds numerous times.

I've had this dream too, multiple times. In my case it's usually not dolls I've had before however it usually is actual bjd sculpts I know of (though resin colors may be a bit wacky)
In my dreams like this lately the discovery is at first a happy surprise but quickly accompanied by guilt and sadness and then I have to bother with trying to sell them all and it's really a huge chore the interesting thing is that the dolls I find seem random, ones I am very familiar with from seeing online over the years but usually not anything I am specifically wanting to own.

Other than that one there are a few other themes I've had (repeatedly). Though I don't think I can remember all off the top of my head. I have a recurring theme of going shopping in a huge store packed with dolls. Bjd and other, some ones I recognize and others from my mind's eye I suppose. Sometimes they are like my idea of Mandarake, sometimes it's an estate sale or an antique/thrift place. This will be part of a larger dream with a psychological component (as per the usual). I'm always so thrilled to look at all of them but I never get to buy and or take them with me

Sometimes there is an appearance of one of my actual dolls in my dream, not central, and not something negative. Just as a random detail.
I have a new recurrent nightmare my dolls play a central part in the last several years, since some traumatic events, where I am planning to leave my home behind on very short notice and I'm packing them all and worrying and there is a lot of crushing sadness and anxiety about loss, while worrying about my dolls and getting them out with me.

I lead a colorful and miserable dream life

 

When I dream of my dolls, it's always been one of two scenarios: Either they've come to life and I get to be their actual mother, or I've ordered and received a grail. Sometimes those plot lines combine.

 

I've had two doll dreams that I can remember. In the first one, something awful happened to my collection- I don't know what exactly but they were all broken and scratched up. I woke up really upset, but of course they were all fine in real life.

The other dream, which I've had more than once, is finding dolls for sale in unexpected places, like a craft store or antique shop. Those dreams, like all shopping dreams, make me happy at first, until dream-me realizes this is all fake and gets depressed.

 

I don't have doll dreams often. When I was little I used to have nightmares about Chucky the killer doll because the adults in my life didn't monitor what I watched which lead to nightmares after watching shows I didn't know were rated r. I think i watched that movie when I was maybe between 5 to 8 not sure. I had nightmares every year about that doll. Very graphic gruesome nightmares that haunted my nights. Occasionally, I still get those nightmares, but less frequently.

Since getting into the hobby I sometimes dream about bjds. It's mainly about missing a doll deadline or just random dreams about a bjd behind the scenes of my dreams.

Most of my dreams are nightmares, so maybe I need comforting random things popping up in my dream like my dolls and dogs. Sometimes when it's a really bad nightmare BTS will be in my dream like they are forming a shield against the nightmarish landscape that my brain cooked up. Usually they are singing in my dreams or just standing there in the background when I'm really scared then I feel less scared.


Most of my dreams focus on escaping and needing to save my sister and me from something, abandonment, or my parents/relatives/or their friends putting me through some sort of danger or stress that causes me to cry in my sleep. I usually wake up crying. So usually in my dreams I have a magic bag that i can stuff with anything and it creates a magically safe home that cam protect my sister, my dogs, and me it protects me from dangers and in this space it is timeless. Usually I stuff my dogs in there, my sister, and myself. It has everything we need. Then we stay there forever. That is usually how my dream goes, but if the danger is inescapable and I can't handle it and the bag isn't there then usually a doll or BTS or anything I find comforting pops up somewhere in the background.

The bjds that do appear in my dreams are not the dolls I own, but just a random resin bjd kind of generic looking. I don't always dream in color and i sometimes hear music in my dreams, so the dolls in my dream are sometimes in black and white which kind of adds an eerie effect. I used to wake up humming a random song my brain made up to myself.

From what I recall the bjds in my dreams don't have a smile, but more of a blank look.

 

I feel like I've dreamed of my first Super Gem, before I bought him. I do have all my dolls (well okay except for 6 because I ran out of space) facing my bed because I see them as guardians of my dreams and protectors (the door to my room runs parallel to my bed so they would in theory creep out an intruder). I can't remember my doll dreams clearly but I think it's always been a race to acquire them or protect them in my dreams.

 

I have located so many dolls that I forgot I bought! Surely they could try sticking around when I wake up just once.

 

I have time to time dreams about BJD:s. Usually they are dreams where I find many dolls from my closet and I don't even remember that I had a dolls like that. Usually without makeup or clothes. I'm like "Ah yeah, maybe I have to put some of these dolls for sale, as I don't even remember these, so they are not that important to me" or something like that. Other kind is a dream where I have to move many dolls from place a to place b.

 

Yesterday I dreamt of resin eyes. The eyes were very beautiful with a mix of random colors. It looked like all the beautiful parts of the world was inside the eyes. I opened a box of resin eyes the day before maybe that is why. Before I dreamt of resin eyes I was dreaming of my parents which made me upset because before that I was having a nice dream about my sister, my dogs, and me I think we were traveling in my dream which is weird because we dont travel. I think the resin eyes part popped up somewhere afterwards. It really stood out because the eyes were so shiny, sparkly, and very colorful. The eyes looked like jewels.

 

I have never dreamed about dolls as much as about finding a shop that sold outfits that you could at least lay on top of dolls to see if they fit. Kind of like a open air market for BJD. It was fantastic!

 

I've twice dreamed about dolls. The first one was a nightmare, fueled by my fears when I was expecting my first doll (in my dream, my doll melted away because of the summer hot O.o). Since then, I never had another dream until last month, that I dreamed about my current family having a setting where I displayed them, kinda like a diorama. It surely served me as inspiration, as I'm now slowly making progress on building a diorama for them.

 

I once had a dream my house was flooding and I had only minutes to save a few things and get out before the apartment was totally under water (and I lived in a 2nd floor apt. at the time). I totally bypassed everything else to get to my dolls, inflated the emergency life-raft I'd apparently been keeping under the bed, loaded them up, blew the window out MacGyver style with a fire extinguisher and sailed away to safety. I woke up from that one rather disturbed and upset.

A much better dream was one where I was at an "easter" egg hunt where the large plastic eggs either contained a fist full of candy, a random band t-shirt, or if you were lucky, a small doll. I was very lucky in that I came away with 37 eggs; 8 shirts (most of which were too small though), and 5 pukipuki sized dolls. I was VERY disappointed when I woke up.

I've had a few more over the years, but these two were the first to come to mind.

 

I will randomly dream about my dolls, or dolls that I'm really wanting to own. I was really on the fence for buying one doll but then I kept dreaming about them, so I had to get them in the end. I think it's normal to dream about things your passionate about

 

I've only had one BJD dream lol... I feel like I don't dream super often, and when I do - I never really remember the details.

But the one dream I had, I had just bought a house. It was a super old house, and I had a house warming with a few friends. The friends in the dream were people I hadn't talked to in years (weird lol), and they asked me about my attic. Of course, because it's a dream and it's crazy I invite them all up to my attic and there are TONS of doll boxes. Like mysteriously way more than I actually own! My friends remark "Oh my gosh, you have so many dolls!", and in my dream I remember being really confused like... "Wait are all these mine?!". So I start opening boxes to see what's inside, and it was just these crazy limited dolls, fullsets... and it just seems like a never ending sea of brand new dolls. I remember waking up and being like... aw nuts.

 

I finally have an answer for this one

I'm waiting on a pre-order that the artist said would ship this month (but hasn't shipped yet). Last night, I had a dream that I was checking the tags for the doll on instagram and people were posting unboxings of their dolls which had shipped and there just weren't shipping notices for. I got very hopeful that my doll might also be on the way... and then I woke up.
