Do Lati Yellows Skin "really" turn yellow? Mine did ):

Jan 23, 2009

    1. Ok so now that I have your attention...
      I have a REALLY stupid question/concern.

I bought my first Lati Miel from a seller here on doa.
I didnt keep the receipts & now cant locate the owner to ask her the stupid question so i must bother all you guys *yay*

      Ok so here it is;
I was dressing up Suri when i sat her down next to my dzbunny & realized they where the same skin tone. It was then that i noticed out of ALL the dolls i owned She was the yellowest.
So im wandering if this is a condition of her skin yellowing due to poor living conditions or if that is how all lati yellows are?
      I dont even know if she is white skin or normal.. its just not so obvious aside from this horrid color ;__;

Is this something I must get use to when it comes to latiyellows? or was she perhaps mistreated before (left in sun, left around smoke) & just yellowed over time?

Please offer me some comfort/advice/anything <3

    2. Hi MIoma,

Mine is slightly jaundiced too! She's also a Miel, but one of the older ones. I bought her second hand withthe yellowing disclosed. I figured it's going to happen to most of them sooner or later. The color change is most apparent next to the little Lati White. It is hardly noticable next to the CH Shu Shu that is almost new. I did some body blushing on her and deeened her cheeks and forehead coloring a bit to help compensate. I'll also avoid dressing her in colors that will emphasize the changes. It doesn't bother me much anymore. The price I got ehr at was fantastic...

That was your anything. My advice is to continue to gather opinions and sell her if it bothers you htat much. (Some dolls SPLOTCH as they yellow, HORRORS!

      Here's your comfort

**ther there** it will be ok, Gramma make it all beddow...

      Margie

    3. How can you tell the age? I imagine LatiDoll has released new body types.
Would their be any signs that she is of a specific make?
*sigh* She is a sweetheart.. Thank you for your advice *hugs*

lulz, i love how you replies with "anything, advice& comfort" <3

    4. [IMG]

Sooo Maybe this Yellow themed isnt such a good idea *lol* poor girl.

Maybe its just my lightbulb making her seem so yellow /:

Im still curious to see who else out there may have had the same issue

    5. she doesn't looks so yellow in my opinion... also you should keep in mind that some dolls have a yellowish skintone on their own. maybe it's just natural. (i don't have a lati yellow, so i can't really help.)

    6. the older Lati have a slightly more yellow tone to the resin anyhow :D
the newer ...have a pinkertone ?
I can honestly say though yellowing never bothers me ...it happens ..unless you keep them in a box in the dark ...and I dont want to do that

taking pictures in natural light ..or with a natural light bulb ..is always better ...floresent and normal lights always make them look yellower than they are xxx

    7. Well, she isn't as horrible looking as my Custom House Uriel. He was a normal skin, but now is by far the most discolored of my dolls, and absolutely not the eldest. It's so bad I don't dare undress him anymore, and his head and neck are a perfect match to my WHITE skin Dollzone girl. *_*

So your girl isn't so bad, and it happens to 99% of all dollies eventually. You could also think of it as having developed 'character'. (I try to anyways)

    8. Yellowing seems to be a natural 'progression' with resin, it doesn't mean that the doll has been mistreated or not looked after properly.
My Lati Yellow is slightly more yellow toned than some of my other dolls, but I can't really tell if it has got more yellow since I got her.
My home is smoke free and I keep my dolls in a shady room but even the heat can affect them.
I have also heard of people keeping dolls stored in their boxes and they've still changed colour a bit.
I think it's just one of those things!

    9. I have many different tinies for several years now and none of them have yellowed. Some start out that way - most older makes (Lati Yellows and Pocketfairies for example) have slightly more yellow resin and they do look a little wierd next to newer ones. I have a Summer Festival Coco who was made several years ago and Miel who was made last summer - there is a pretty big difference in their resins but that is due to the resin recipe of the time and not yellowing.

The larger the tiny, the more chance of yellowing - say Customhouse and especially the Narsha though the Volks YoSD seems very stable. What's wierd is I think the Narsha is made by the same people who make the much tinier Banji and I've yet to see a Banji turn.

As companies mature, their resins get better too - and I'm pretty sure they constantly tweak their resin recipe.

I also keep all my dolls out of the light and all of them are still stable color-wise (including my large ones).

Don't despair - just think of that old plastic bottle in the bathroom cupboard - I pulled one out I had forgotten and what was white became super-dark tan - our dolls are designed to be more stable than that.

    10. Oh she is just precious, Miomo! I can't offer any advice since I have very limited experience as it is and I have no Latis but I have beauty white Jaimedoll baby whom I'm certain will yellow aswell in time. As TinyBear says, its just something that happens. It doesn't take away from the beauty of your little one if she has in fact yellowed. Gosh, she is just too cute! How did you get her pacifier to stay in her mouth like that?:D:aheartbea

    11. While I have no experience with Latis I can offer one bit of comfort and advice in one!
If you browse around the workshop forums you should be able to find a solution or two for yellowed resin.
You'd either have to skip her head or redo her faceup but it would help her body. Though looking at the picture I would guess it was the lighting more then the resin that was yellowing your cutie.

    12. you can tell if she is one of the older dolls by her legs ..the upper part of the legs ..in the older body they are in 1 peice ..the newer legs the top of the leg section is in 2 parts
      http://latidoll.com/2007_en/index.htm?mode=faq&sc=en&num=38
you can see in the picture the join in the top leg section
the renewal body has more posability ..and is more stable IMO

so thats how you tell old yellow body ...and the new ones
      Oh yes ..
the new ones came in 2007 :)

I think they older ones were released 2005

    13. This is all great to hear.
I think It has a lot to do with her age & the resin they used to make her.
Plus Im sure the light bulbs i use don't help. she doesn't look so bad under a fluorescent
      bulb or outside.

I didn't realize dolls yellowed over time, i thought they had some sort of special spray for them or something ):

    14. Thank you so much *hugs tight* shes deff an older model.
Does that make her value go down any?

    15. I shouldnt think so
I sold a white older version not so long ago ...and it held her value very well

Im kicking myself now though LOL
I sold her instantly missed her ...still do :(

    16. Aww *pets* I know how you feel. Ive had to do the same in tight financial times.
