1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do not open before Christmas!

Nov 25, 2013

    1. Just wondering if there are others out there who are trying to keep the box closed till Christmas!

    2. hehehehehe. NOOOO. U.U; I'm awful, I just can't do it. I have a brief moment where I consider wrapping the box and placing it under the Christmas tree... but then I blink and there's bubble wrap everywhere.

Major props to those who can though! ;)

**Also to add, it's totally due to my lack of self control... but logically if there was an issue with the doll such as broken hands, missing pieces, wrong order, etc... you have to let the company know asap. So for me, that added risk doesn't encourage me to wait either.

    3. Double posts, because I don't know what I'm doing!

    4. I don't think I'd be able to wait. I'd have to check for damage and there would be NO way I'm boxing them up again :)

    5. Yeah, it's nice to think you can wait is nice, but if theres a problem, they wont help you take care of it if you wait too long. So unless it comes 1-2 days before christmas, I wouldn't wait.

    6. I'm seconding what Silvertora and Inspired said. I wouldn't be able to wait because the doll/shipping company cant do anything about damages if I'm too late opening the box :/

    7. I've been through this! ....I couldn't wait I'd take them out to play, then put them back in their boxes under the tree. No self control.

    8. Last year, I had to wait from about the middle of October until Christmas. That wait was deadly! This year it shouldn't be a problem because the dolls I ordered in August still aren't here and I'll be lucky if they make it home for Christmas.

    9. My "Christmas doll" is one I'm buying for myself this year (a little Soom Fairy Legend Crow), and he probably won't show up before New Year's. That's the easy way to avoid the whole don't-open-the-box issue.

    10. I haven't had any arrive close enough to Christmas to do this, myself... if by some stroke of luck my current order is on/close to on schedule, though, I might tuck the box aside and open it as a Christmas present to myself! ("On Schedule" for this order would be shipping 12/12, meaning if somehow they did ship that day--I'm not holding my breath--I'd only be sitting on the box for maybe a week before opening, not nearly long enough to create a problem if there's any damage in shipping.)

    11. I gave my mom full permission to open Vala and check her over for me...I'm hoping my mom has a change of heart though and gives her to me early. I think I'd actually cry if I heard her opening my doll's packaging before me..

    12. I've never had anyone buy me a doll as a gift, so I've never had to wait to open one. And I see no reason to wait if I'm buying one for myself as a gift. And, like others have said, I'd be too nervous to wait and open it, just in case there's damage that needs immediate addressing.

    13. I've never had a doll arrive close enough to Christmas to put one under the tree (and I'm the only person who buys me dolls, so if I did put one under the tree, it would only be for the 'ooooh, giant box!' effect :XD:)

I agree with what others have said, though. At the very least, you should probably have someone else check your doll to make sure it isn't damaged. I can't think of anything worse than delaying the fun of opening a doll, only to have that fun totally ruined by some damage you know the company will refuse to fix because you waited so long to open you doll!

    14. My new doll just arrived today. She was supposed to be a combination Yule/graduation present for me, so I'm probably going to hand the box over to Mom and ask her to wrap it for me. Whether or not I actually manage to wait until Yule or Christmas to open it is yet to be seen :p

    15. I don't have a Christmas doll, but I do have a doll carry case waiting for Christmas, but not on purpose! I've wanted a Volks doll carrier for ages and I bought one when I had some money left over after a flash eBay sale...but my brother didn't know what to get me for Christmas so he 'bought' it off me and I'll get it back on Christmas Day

If I was waiting for a doll for Christmas I'd have to check it for any damage first and make sure everything that was supposed to come with it is in the box. Then it can be all wrapped up and waiting for Christmas :)

    16. My girlfriend is buying me a doll for christmas, but he won't be here till next year!
I have gotten her a little doll for christmas too, who I can't wait to give to her, because I want to play with her myself!

    17. I decided to buy myself a doll for Christmas( although my sister is also giving it to me, as she is paying a part of it).
But since I just recently ordered her, a bit of an impulse buy as she is a limited and it was a love at first site. So I could not resist^^
So I will not get my "Christmas present" until February or March :/

    18. I've just paid off a doll which is part present to myself part present from my partner, when she arrives I'm going to check her over then give her to my partner until Christmas , going to be a long few weeks till Xmas day:)

    19. My birthday is at xmas, so i tend to have restraint otherwise i wouldnt have anything to open! My hubby always checks my dolls over and wont let me have them early..he is experienced enough what to look for, so i am very lucky....there is however nothing worse than having to staring at the box when its sat in a corner tempting you!

    20. I'm currently in the process of waiting for my Christmas doll to arrive :) I ordered my RS Mei in October, she is taking longer to get shipped as I ordered her through a dealer, she should be shipped around 10th December so if all goes to plan she should arrive a few days before Christmas which would be perfect as I wont have to wait as long to open her! Christmas day is gonna be a treat! :D Im so excited!
