Do you change your doll's wigs and eyes?

There are certain things you can't do to a wig, like I've heard that combing them when they're wet is bad, and boiling them does interesting stuff, but lots of people have said they put gel/moose in their wigs and style them.

As for me... I'm definitely changing out my boy's eyes. Though, I don't think I'd want to take the risk of messing up his wig.

 

I usually dont change the eyes but almost always change the wigs.

As far as styling a wig...the big thing to remember is that styling a wig is going to be more permanent than styling regular hair. Your hair you can wash and rinse out but a wig will never be as nice if you wash it or put hair products in them. You can definitly style a wig with hair spray and gel (i'd reccommend hair spray first and if you need to use something stronger, make sure it's a clear gel). I just styled my Hounds fur wig with hair spray last night. You want to let it dry for a day at least so none of the gunk gets on your doll too!
I just wouldn't reccommend washing wigs too much because they are a lot smaller and the strands aren't attached as well as some human sized wigs because they are so small (but there are definitly different quality wigs and some are nicer than others)....

My dolls' eyes are their *EYE COLOR*...I can't imagine them changing them for anything. Wigs, though, I do change now and again. :3

And do NOT use a hair straightener on a wig. O_O;

 

Depending on what they're made of, I bet you they'd melt. xD;; Which would be kind of funny, but very sad.

 

It depends on the doll. I change Hikaru's wigs sometimes, but I usually keep him in blond. Frank was a specific person before he had a doll body, and therefore doesn't change his hair and eyes...because, well, Frank has blue eyes and black hair. Fumiki is more changable in terms of looks for some reason, and I've been wanting to buy him more wigs.

As for styling--both Hikaru and one of Enchantress' dolls have wavy/curly hair and their wigs need to be moussed occasionally to keep them from getting frizzy. Their wigs were both just shampood too, and they look better. However, I wouldn't shampoo them very often for fear that it would be too much wear and tear.

 

For the most part, my kids' eyes are their eye colour as well, so they don't get changed much, or if they do it's to a different variation on the same colour. Lilith has multiple wigs, but they're all the same colour. Obsidian's eyes and especially his hair colours do change, but he's the only one. He's just too colourful a person to keep the same wig all the time. ^^
I have a human hair wig that I straighten every now and again, and I often use conditioner and mousse on Vincent's wig to keep it in line-it's been getting a little ragged lately since it's the only one he owns and I play with him all the time..

 

My boys' eyes are "permanent," especially Saint-Germain's. I did change out the default ones he came with, as his eyes needed to be a very dark blue, instead of the bright blue included. I had planned to change Milo's eyes, but when I saw them in person, I thought they were a perfect color for him.

On the other hand, I do change wigs frequently, although they are usually in the same color "family." Both boys wear dark colored wigs (except Saint-Germain also wears silver and platinum). No blonds/light auburns for either of them.

I guess I look at their eyes as their "soul," and their hair as "fashion."

 

I kept Ichii's default wig until I couldn't stand it any more. That being said, all of his wigs are the same style and color, just different makes. (*loser*)
I tried changing his eyes once, but I didn't like the way he looked. I'm still looking for that perfect pair of brown eyes, though.

 

Ilu's an old character of mine, so when I get his body he'll have a fixed wig + eye combination no matter what else changes. The only reason I might change them is if I found new hair or eyes that more closely matched the colours I imagine him with.

 

If I can get the eyes out, I've changed them to silicone eyes. I still need to get a hairdryer to get the hot-glued ones out, though. A few dolls have their original wigs, most don't...it depends on how it suits them. It's about 30% original wigs--Claudia, Tempest, Dianna, Ewan, Hiroko, Macrae.

 

eyes are more important tothe character than wigs, but at the same time I wouldn't give my boy a wig that didn't suit his personality and preferences.

I would change his eyes for cosplay or something (just like people wear contacts) but he will always have grey eyes as his default. ^_^

 

I change wigs and eyes all the time...For me, that's one of the perks of having these dolls...

My boy'll have his brown eyes and that'll be it for him. That's his eye colour, and I couldn't see him with any other colour. I may end up buying multiple wigs, but they'll all be the same colour, just different styles.

 

I stick with eye and hair colour - they're part of him, and he's not the type of guy who wants to dye his hair, so to me, it doesn't make sense to change wig-colour. I do change styles, though - and some styles you can only achieve through a different wig (like mohair, or a shorter cut).

In terms of wig care...I don't actually know much about it, but I cut and slightly straightened his wig - seems like I broke the no-combing when wet rule, but the wig had such a strong kink that I couldn't have cut it straight otherwise. when I change the kid's eyes it's more like they're wearing contacts. X3 I never plan on their colors, I just keep trying stuff till something STICKS. Nathan has hazel eyes, I never imagined he would... and Ane has brown eyes, another thing that suprised me. Ghaleon I never thought would get his default red eyes, but due to a nice random swap, he does now and I can't imagine him in anything else!

I'm new to BJDs and I only own one (a Lati Yellow) .I recently thought about buying her a new wig and some new eyes...But then I looked at her and thought that, although she is not perfect, I wouldn't want to change her. I'm afraid (that's quite a strong word but...) I would change her personality. I'd maybe give her new hair but only in the same color so it's just like a new "haircut"

So here are my questions to you guys:

1. Do you change his/her wigs/eyes frequently or do you settle on one combination after you've found out about you're dolls personality?

2. Have you changed the look of you're doll and fell out of love with him/her?

3. How many dolls do you own compared to the amount of wigs and eyes you have?

I change the look always ^^

Wel is a question of taste, some days I feel she should look serious, others she should look nutty, etc. If i dont like the look, i just change it ^^ thats why these dolls are so good, they are versatile and have so much to them than just ONE single look.

3. How many dolls do you own compared to the amount of wigs and eyes you have?
2 SDs male and female and one lil Brownie. Altogether i have 6 wigs, but thats just for the SDs

I am on the constant prowl for the perfect eyes and wig. I wont change my dolls eyes again, I got them perfectly how I want them. But as for her wig, it might change someday, as hair often does.

When I first changed out Yeyo's eyes it took me a lot of getting used to and I almost bit the expenses I paid for her new eyes and used the old ones instead. But in the end they won me over, so her little pink blind eye, and her lovely icy blue eye are forever.

Well I just own one doll, one wig, and 3 sets of eyes right now. I'm bigger on buying clothes than wigs
