1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you collect PHOTO's of BJD's?

May 25, 2008

    1. Basically, although I physically own four gorgeous BJD's, I also *own* about 400 others, because everytime I see a beautiful and wonderful BJD, or faceup, or just pose, I save it in a "Dollfie" file on my computer. I've been doing it for about 3 years now and I love to just look through it, it's my own personal little file full of beauty that I will only see and never touch.

      Does anyone else do this?

Wouldn't it be lovely if there was a book that pictured DOA members BJD's? I know that a calendar was made, and that was amazing to look at!

Is there a book of the history of BJD's which depicts all the designs by the companies for the last ten years?

      Absynthe x x x

    2. I don't know of any book, but yes, I do save photos too. And glad I have, since companies change their faceup styles from the ones I fell in love with in the beginning.

And my bookmark and subscribed-gallery/photostory markers are utterly out of control.

    3. Me too.

The large folder containing BJD photo is getting too big for the computer to manage.

    4. I print out pictures of my favorite dolls and put them on my wall. :3 I love looking at them.

    5. I have a file folder full of pictures of dolls I love. :D

    6. Yep! I save them on my computer and look through them every so often. Its getting to be a lot of photos!

    7. Lol, I'm so glad other people do this too. I've saved a lot of images through the years, both for reference for my plans of future dolls and for - well - just looking at. :)

      - I have this problem too x)

    8. Yeah, I have a folder of bjd pictures, and there are sub-folders for each size (ahahaha, I actually don't have a lot of them, I just like to organize them). If I'm looking to buy a particular doll, I'll save pictures of it to help me decide later on. I also save pictures of faceups I like. That way, I'll have reference/inspiration when I do them. Although I own a School C, I actually have a lot of pictures of other people's School Cs - most them were actually saved after I bought the head. That's because I have trouble painting it (and boy's faceups in general) so I need lots of help. :)

    9. I do! Its wonderful to be able to look at other peoples dolls anytime I want ^^

    10. I like to save certain face-ups for reference too, so when I finally dare to do one, I can base it on a faceup I've seen before and fell in love with. I find I have a LOT of Unoa's and EL's! lol

    11. Yes, I do. I always feel sad when really great bjd sites take down or change their galleries, so now I always save my favorite photos. Good thing too - I have lots of photos that now sadly can't be seen online. ^^

On the other hand, I sometimes miss my chance - a certain site closed down recently, and I could swear I was about to go through and save all of its gallery just the day before! Ack, so close...

    12. Hahah, yes, in a way. Any time I see ANY photo that I really love, I'll just save it straight to the 'My Pictures' folder; so it's not just BJDs, but there's definitely quite a few of them in there.

Unfortunately, my folder got to over 2000 photos. :XD: So I had to delete it. Now there's only about 100, because I'm being much more selective.

    13. I save pics of all my favourite dolls and face-ups. I even named the folder the pics are in entirely in capitals and added an exclamation mark at the end.

    14. I like to collect photos of BJDs in cosplay.
I have a few random pictures of other BJDs but it's just when I find one that looks really special and unique, or photos of sculpts I'm planning to buy someday so I can see different possibilities for them...

    15. yes i do! overtime, people delete them or change their BJD page so when i really like them, i save them.

    16. Hm, I only currently have pictures saved (with their own little file and name) for cosplay purposes but I wouldn't be suprised if a folder suddenly pops up with pictures of BJDs sometime soon ^^;;

    17. I have a Tumblr, which is an awesome mini blogging platform that I just adore. It allows you to share images you find on websites (among other things!) super easily.
So whenever I see a pic I love, I upload it to my Tumblr <3 Then my friends can see it, too, and it beats exploding my hard drive with billions of images. xD

    18. Mmhmm, I have a MASSIVE folder of BJD photos. I love looking through them when I'm getting angsty about not having a doll myself. The photos help me keep on track and remember how happy I'll be once I'm done saving up.

I also print out my absolute favourites and put them in sheet protectors in a special binder. That way, I can look at BJDs even if my internet is out or something. C:

    19. yeh i do
      mainly because i don't yet have a BJD : (
so i save them as ideas, or just dolls i like
      : )

    20. It actually never occurred to me to save photos of people's dolls, and I was surprised when I heard people did that when I first got into the hobby. :sweat

I do have a small folder now though, of Yahoo!Japan auction photos. A few of custom faceups or mods I liked, or outfits or jewelry, but mostly I just save the auction photos of items I've won so I can have reference later on when the auction link expires, or the seller removes the photos. :)
