Do you Pair your doll’s ?

May 28, 2013

1. Hi everyone , just been sitting here looking at my dolls and wondering why I need to pair them up not so much gender or boy and girl but my problem is Size.
I have all different sizes , I have Sprocket size , MSD , and SD size but I don’t like it when I only have one of each size I feel they need to have a friend , someone their size.
is this strange ? does any one else do this ? How can I stop doing this ? do I need to stop doing this ? or do I need professional help …

who else does something like this …:)

2. I kinda feel the same way as you. After I bought Jack (who's an SD size), I was looking at some MSDs then thought, no way, he'd need a friend in his size, so I ordered *another* SD doll...

Of course, you don't *have* to pair your dolls up! If you enjoy them in individual sizes, I think that's ok too. I'm just kind of anal in that I want them to be all the same size I guess. And I know some people who pair their SDs and MSDs together too. However you enjoy them most, I think. :)

3. Oh lord...it's how I ended up with over 80! Well, the faces mostly grabbed me, lol. But yeah, I pair.

4. I didn't start out meaning to pair them, but I ended up doing it anyway. Not based on gender so much, but on size. Basically, so they have a companion.

5. I know that feeling, I have avoided looking at SD size dolls because I know I would order several of them. I think it's normal to not want your dolls to be alone. When I got my 7 cm DHS doll I had to order another in that size so he would have a friend. It seems to me like most people do this and it is a normal part of the hobby, though it is killer on the wallet. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

6. Heh, I can't even seem to buy them one at a time in a single size anymore! I just ordered my first RealPuki (9cm) and couldn't resist getting two! ALL my dolls have to have a similar sized friend. Probably moreso because I WANT so I may as well GET. lol

We seem to put a lot on our dolls that actually stems from our own ideas or desires. We say "my doll needs a friend his/her own size" when really what we mean is "I want more than one of ____ "

7. I never really thought about it before, but most of my dolls are in pairs or groups; the MSDs are all part of one story group with one exception (and I've been idly poking around for a partner for him), the Slim 1/6 are twins, and the YOs exist in two pairs. The only one that's alone in size is my Puki, but since she's a "familiar" to one of the MSDs, she doesn't really count as "solo" to me!

I think there is a definite appeal to having them be able to interact, rather than pose solo. Probably equal parts "they need a friend" and "I want another," in these cases.

8. I do this too, not size or gender but personality! If I buy a sad looking doll I have to buy a happy looking doll to balance it out! If I buy a tiny doll, I need a big doll to balance it out also. I'm terrified otherwise I'll end up with a doll family who look like clones!

9. Considering that my dolls are supposed to be a couple anyways, (they're based off characters that my bf and I played in a LARP), I don't feel bad having mine paired. The only concern I Have is that the male is a 70cm BBB Dong and the girl is a 58cm Alice from DollLove. ><

10. I’m glade I’m not alone or mad …I know their dolls but I think everyone or everything needs a pair , friend or someone their own size to relate to ..
after all we have 2 feet , 2 eyes , 2 ears, 2 legs and so on … wish I had twice the funds to play :)

11. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't... It just depends on the dolls in question, and I find myself with a fair number of solos and trios in addition to the pairs.

12. Most of mine are pairs. ^^ I have a boyfriend-girlfriend pair of MSDs and a father-daughter pair of an SD and MSD. Mariana's all alone, but that's kind of the point with her.

13. I thought I was ok at first with having only girl dolls, but it bothered me after awhile. I found that I wanted some guys to companion & pose with them....and convince my wife that I was going to be egalitarian about the hobby. So it came about that we obtained some suitable male company for them. But when the SDM Chloe & Liz came along, I knew for sure that if I got one, I would have to get the other. When we opened their boxes and saw how small they were against the bigger dolls, I knew the decision had been the correct one. Nothing like having some kids around to remind the older ones to behave in a responsible manner!

14. I do like to pair my dolls. I love posing them together in their little mini groupings and setting up scenes with them. It's so cute when they're playing chess or reading magazines together. In my current crew, they're all friends that live together in their story, then they break down into best friend pairs and "family related" pairs. I'm kinda looking for a sibling for my little MSD. But yeh having an odd number is just an excuse to go doll shopping. ;)

15. My dolls are 'paired' in all kinds of ways. All my MSDs, my 1/6 slim and all my tinies are part of the same story. Among the MSDs there are three couples, and one who has a boyfriend coming home later this summer (so I will have 4 couples). Two of my MSDs are twins, as are two of my tinies. Two more are brother and sister, and my 1/6 slim is a sibling of those two as well. The tinies are all children of the MSDs. Yep...my dolls are paired every which way.

I only have one 1/6 doll, but she is 'related' to the MSDs so I guess even though she's the only one I have in her size, she's still paired.

The only one not paired with anybody is my SD boy who, sadly, mostly lives in his box. I've often thought about getting him a friend, but I really don't like the SD size as much, and I've recently decided he needs to move to a new home.

16. I haven't really paired them per se. I got more MSD's b/c that's my favorite size (mostly lol). But I do kinda want to get more in the other sizes. I won't be making couples though, b/c I don't want any boy dolls lol. My MSD girl actually has a 1/2 goblin slave but that's the only real pairing. Oddly enough I'm not even sure if they've even "seen" each other lol.

17. My original plan was to have a diverse collection. By that I mean that I was intend on having at least one doll from various companies and in a variety of sizes. By the time I ordered my 3rd doll that plan was out the window and I found that I had formed groups. Not just the msd verses sd groups that I have but I am torn between the overly cute msds and the realistic looking sd group. In other words my collection has taken on a life of it's own.

18. Even though I've been here since 2007, I didn't have the means to bring anyone home till this year...
So when I saw luts was basically offering a two-for one deal during their winter event, I jumped on it.
But knowing that they'd have a 'friend' was really what sealed the deal.
So yes, yes I do.

19. I have 3 MSDs and one tiny. Dane and Dahlia are a couple but I don't want to pair up all my dolls. I just wanted to have a couple and write a story for them. Lately I've been thinking about getting an SD because I don't feel like my collection would be complete without one,but I don't have any plans to get an SD couple.

20. I always like to have dolls in pairs (if not more! Basically, I can't have only one doll of a particular company or size if I can help it which is probably why I feel less attached to my sole Lati Blue) because it makes me feel like that doll has a "friend" to pal around with in my dolly household. :)
