1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you store things in your BJD's head?

Nov 5, 2013

    1. The original thread (now archived): Do you stash things in your dolls head o.O

I belonged to this original thread, and I was wondering if anyone else stored things in their BJD's head. I still do! :) I'll get things started again.

Right now, Ryuichi, Ryuma, Ichi, Ritsuka, Trilllian, Hisato, Chiyoko, Noriko all have necklaces in their heads, many with their names on them. Ryuichi has actual teeny tiny engraved dog tags with his name on it that I had made at Things Remembered in his head.

Yuki, Tatsuha, Soubi all smoke, so I keep their cigarettes in their heads.

Tohma is the only one that has nothing stored in his head. He's much too elegant to do something like that!

      And Baby!Ryuichi's only a faceplate, so I can't put anything in his head...yet! ;)

I would like to get little dog tags with their names in all of their heads that have my name and address on them, but I've been too busy saving for bodies for my floating heads to do that right now! :D

      Ryu

    2. I would be worried about causing damage by storing hard objects in the head. Things rattling around to bang into glass eyes doesn't sound like the best idea IMO.

    3. I don't really store anything in my doll's heads. Though one time I had to store some safety pins in Tifa's head because I had to take her dress off and I didn't want to lose them.

    4. Oh, I put them in teeny tiny ziplock baggies and roll it up in them so that they aren't loose inside of their heads...just for that reason! ;) Since I have mostly SDs and 70cm, the baggies fit inside and take up a nice amount of space. In my MSDs heads, I actually hve to fold the baggies in order to get them to fit. Either way, things don't shift around too much and the plastic seems to be gentle against their glass eyes.

I've stored things inside of Ryuichi since 2009, and his eyes are fine, and there are no chips or dents or anything inside of his head either.

      Ryu

    5. When some of my Volks dolls' headplates fall off, I put them inside their heads until I get around to gluing them back on. Lazy, I know... but at least they're still with the doll, and the rattle they make reminds me. :XD:

    6. I don't currently, but I love your idea of getting a tag for each with their name and your address on them!

    7. I did that too prior to gluing my Luts Super Senior Delf's plate back on! But other than that... I don't think I ever have stored anything different in my dolls' heads. xD

    8. no but it would be cute if someone purposed to you via a doll or doll head you wanted with a ring inside lmfao

    9. Did that also...actually, my crobidoll t-line's plate is still unglued -v-; /slapped

    10. Some of my dolls have tiny pictures of each other in their heads to make them "think" about each other. Really silly.
I believe I even mentioned wanting to do this with them in the original thread. Welp, I did now.

    11. I like this idea, it would be really cool :)

But I don't hide things inside my doll. It's just never occurred to me :(

    12. uh...no. :|

Other than the headplate idea, I don't really see the point of putting something inside my doll's head. Anything small enough to fit inside one of my doll's heads that I wanted to keep safe or hidden would definitely be put in a more secure (and logical) place than inside a doll...

    13. I was somewhat intrigued to read the thread title and the posts. I never even thought of doing something like this, but no, I don't and don't think I will.

    14. Normally, no. Once I stuck some doll jewelry in my boy's head so I wouldn't lose it and it fell through the neck hole and got tangled up in his neck/head joint. O__O

Right now, the only one with anything in his head is Kane. I have a tiny piece of sage stuck in there because I swear that doll is possessed.....>.>

    15. I see what you're saying, but again, they have inexpensive necklaces with their names in their heads and I'm probably going to go ahead with the dog tag idea since if they're lost or stolen, they can (hopefully) find their way back to me. An epoxied dog tag with my name and address on it will hopefully let someone return them to me easier. Theft is a worry and the name necklaces help ease that worry for me, even if its temporary (for now).

I'll more than likely also put an epoxied dog tag inside their bodies as well. Since I have mostly SDs, it shouldn't intefer with their stringing movements.

My putting cigarettes inside of Soubi and Yuki's floating heads means that I can find them once they get a body and leave The Headbasket as well. :)

      Ryu

    16. There once was a company that offered to put perfumed sachets in the heads of their dolls. You could even select a fragrance if I remember correctly.
Does anyone remember what company did this?

    17. As I mentioned back in that older thread, one of my Breakaways (The one I call "Al"-) is the resin avatar of a favorite tabletop RPG character... a Moonshadow caste Abyssal Exalt called the Alabaster Prince of Ashes. When I played that particular character, I used a special set of dice that I'd put together specifically for our Abyssals game. They're small, black and made of obsidian. Even though I've used them while playing several other Abyssal characters since the Prince's untimely demise, I've always thought of them as his.

Al-the-doll has one of those dice stashed inside his head. I see it as sort-of a connection to the original character.

Angell Studio used to do that. I briefly owned a Gabriel who was vanilla-scented.
I'm pretty sure they weren't the only company to do that, either. It seems like there was at least one other, but I can't remember who.

    18. I love this idea - I think it's very sweet. Or I guess they could be enemies..... ? Anyway, I like it!

Oh, I forgot to answer the question: if I'm working on a doll, I'll store eyes inside their head so I don't lose them. Thank you to the person who mentioned using tiny zip bags to keep the stored things in - great idea.

    19. I do not store things in my dolls head, but I like the idea of putting things in there linked to the personality of the doll, like the name tags metioned, and things symbolising his/her toughts.

    20. I do! >_____>
But only spare doll parts really. Like an extra hand, or set of eyes. I stick them into the eye putty slightly so they don't rattle around and hurt anything. In my case, it really helps me not lose the small parts that are floating around, like hands, in the mix of all the other doll stuff I have.

I gave one of my friends at a doll meet a good laugh when they opened on of my girls heads and found an extra hand chilling in the eye putty....
