1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Doll Family H resin quality comparison?

Jun 30, 2012

    1. How does doll family H's resin compare to other company's?

    2. What kind of comparison do you want to make? Color, or texture? I've had my boy for a couple of years now, but he's in good shape. His resin is smooth, no powdery feeling and feels substantial. I'd say it's probably about average. I'll try to remember to get a picture if you want, I bought him jointed hands from DikaDoll about a year ago, the match is descent but not perfect. I have limited access to a DZ girl we could prop up next to him for comparison too if you'd like, but it will take a while.

P.S. I happen to own a Lyre, so if you'd like to pm me with any other questions I'd be happy to oblige though I think my boy is on the older body.

    3. Dollfamily has nice smooth resin, but it can be a little soft in thin places like wrists, so you have to take care not to dent or nick the resin when you're moving those parts.

    4. I don't mean to sound creepy or anything, but I've already watched your video with Aiden on your youtube and seen the pics on DA. >u< He's the one who got me interested in the mould. I was set on getting a MSD sized until I saw his pictures!

    5. This is just what I was looking for, thank you!

    6. Not creepy at all, I'm totally flattered! I haven't done much to customize him so barring any major changes in faceup artist over there, you should be getting one that looks very similar.

Cydril's comment reminded me of something though. Aiden came to me very tightly strung. I think they must have been trying to use the last of their elastic or something because no one else that I've talked to had this problem. Anyway, I didn't change his elastic out and he has some serious damage from the S-hook inside of shin pieces. I have hot-glue sueded him and I don't think he's had any further damage since I replaced the string, but it's something to think about. While the scratches were scary-looking on my boy, they don't seem to have affected the integrity of the parts at all and probably wouldn't be an issue had he not been so tight. I haven't heard of anybody else with this issue and at least some of the scratches on his joints are probably from sand as he's been to the beach twice. ;)

      This is the damage. :(

    7. I've heard horror stories about s hooks.... I've never actually held a bjd, so I have no clue what to expect. Also, I plan on doing some additive mods on my Lyre eventually. Probably add elf ears. I'm still saving up, and I reeeeeeeally wanna get all of it by the 10th or I'll have to wait a long time.... When you go to the beach, does the exterior resin scratch too? Are there and scratches you can see when he's all strung up? I wanted to take mine to Galveston with me, but now I'm worried.

    8. He actually has only one visible scratch, but I believe this to have been caused by improper care on my part. The first time I took him to the beach I didn't unstring him and clean his parts (which basically amounted to brushing the sand off) so he rode home tightly strung, tightly bound, and apparently full of sand since it was windy that day. Most of the scratches came out with steam. I really don't think he came away with any fresh scratches the second time, so I believe it was mostly poor handling. His only visible scratch is actually a dent he received from a chunk of sand that embedded itself into the resin near his bellybutton. It's really not that bad, but again, I think it was inexperience that caused my problems.

    9. Well, your photos came out beautiful! A lyre is gonna be my first bjd, so thanks for the tips :) One last question, as I seem to have gone off of the post topic already, what camera do you use?

    10. What color of resin in Luts match up with Doll family H? Ive been wanting to know

    11. Not sure if this is a right place but I have Doll Family's Lyndon. His body is 65cm tall but I want it as about 60cm (and less muscles). The head's skin color is normal pink and I'm wondering what would be perfect match. The body Lyndon uses now has neck girth of 10.5cm and I thought would it fit on DF's 62cm Boy body-1 New. The neck girth seems to be 9.5cm so would the head be too big? I could also get the body from some other company
