1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Doll Trend in Japan and future

Jun 18, 2013

    1. It seems like custom dollfie is now the in thing in Japan, it fetches high price in auctions. how about 300,000 yen for a head and clothes?
unlike the mass market koreans BJDs....alot of BJDs companies are now suffering with the inflow of cheaper china bjds... and saturated products.
an up market limited series may be the way for this hobby or art work, the future lies in the collector series and individual work with the help of internet sales.

    2. Everyone likes to have one-of-a-kind dolls, but unless one has the technical abilities/time/vision to do it themselves they need to resort to such auctions. Thankfully my friend and myself are quite in the clear with this as we recently learned how to do our own mods and are on our way to improving to become as good as we possibly can! x3 I won't deny there's something magical in both the progress as well as the end result, especially when you look back and see how far you've come and how the doll head has changed from being its "generic self" to what you envisioned in your mind. So, that being said, I definitely understand why the custom dollfies can be so appealing to some people although I could never justify paying 600k yen just for a head (mostly maybe because I know that I could eventually do something similar myself with the appropriate skill level; perhaps if i wasn't a customizer then I wouldn't feel this way?)

    3. There might be many people watching high value auctions but only a handful of the watchers will be considering bidding. Others will be watching out of curiosity to see what the final price will eventually be - you see this with eBay auctions too. Some people watching will have a similar item to sell, or are capable of doing customization to a high level and are curious how much they can sell their item or their services for.

600,000 yen is approx $6300! That is a heck of a lot for one head...but some people can afford to spend that kind of money on their hobby and good luck to them, I guess :D
