DollFest is a new Otakuthon sub-event dedicated to both Ball Jointed Dolls (BJD) and Asian Dolls.
This will be our first year and it will be a big one!

Admission
DollFest require a Otakuthon pass. You can buy it on the Otakuthon website here: https://yurika.otakuthon.com/reg/en/index . You can also buy it at the door.

Weekend pass will be sold for 45$ until June 30th. After this date weekend pass and by day pass will only be sold at the door for 50$. You can also buy single day pass at the door.

Weekend pass and single day pass will give you access to all of the convention and not just DollFest event.


Panels and Workshop
Our DollFest programming will have several informational panels, as well as workshops scheduled throughout the convention in both English and French.* Dollfest will also have its own Masquerade featuring a "Well Dressed Category" and a "Face Up" category. There will also be a Swap Meet to sell or exchange doll articles as well.

Asian Fashion Doll
Ever want to see a Blythe in real life? What's a Toysfield Kuma and is Azone a brand of soda? With almost more than 10 different brands of dolls in Japan, no wonder it can be confusing when a doll collector tells you what they own!

This panel, part of the DollFest event, will focus on popular Asian Fashion Dolls produced in Asia, specificly in Japan & Korea.

Presentation includes the biggest names, companies, general information that can help out a newbie.

Name that sculpt

Name that sculpt hosted by Sabrina Conley AKA SaturnRose from DollNorth

How well do you know your sculpt? Is this a Chiwoo or a Shiwoo? Come and tell us!

Goal:
Guess the company and sculpt name of the doll on screen before the other contestants.

Rules:
To participate you must write your name on the provided piece of paper.
Each round will have 4 persons competing against each other.
Each contestant will have a noise maker different from the other contestant which she or he will use to announce that she or he have the answer.
The first one to activate his noise maker answer first.
In the case of uncertainty, the judge will decide.
If the contestant know both the company name and the sculpt name, she or he will receive 2 point.
If the contestant know only one of the information she or he will get 1 point.
If neither information is correct, the other contestant will be able to ring their noise maker.
If one of the information was found by one contestant and the other by another, they each get one point.
If no contestant have the right answer, no point will be awarded.
The contestant with the most point at the end of the round will move on to the final.

Prize:
The winner of the final will win the big prize
Every contestant will win participation prize.

BJD 101
An informative panels to learn about ball jointed doll held in english and french at respective time. Come and ask any question you ever had about BJD.

Anthro and Fantasy Doll
This panel is a discussion about the alternative to humanoid dolls; the fantastic to animal inspired sculpts. The panilst will bring different kind of anthro and Fantasy dolls.

BJD Maintenance and Knitting for BJD
Come and see how to restringe, cleane or fix your bjd. Or come and see how to knit for your bjd.

BJD meet and exchange
Come and exchange or buy BJD articles.

There are no fee to participate in this event. Please arrive early to set things up.

L'atelier d'anasthasia - Artiste BJD
L'atelier d'Anasthasia will be out guest of honour for our first Dollfest at Otakuthon. She will be presenting her creations and discuss how she makes them.

This panels will mostly be in french but Anasthasia speak english very well so she will be able to answer your question.

BJD Masquerade

Category

-Best in Show
Will be selected by our guest judge (Morbidollz, Belladonna, Frozen wings, Anasthasia)

-Best Seamstress
Selected by our judge. Clothing must be made from scratch(excluding shoes)

-Public Favorite
Selected by vote from attendees with a voting slip. The vote must be receved 15 min before the end of the masquerade.
One vote per participant. Your badge number will be required. If we find any double in the vote we will cancel every vote made with this number.

-Best Cosplay
This category require the participant to present a picture of the cosplay that the doll will be wearing. The criteria are ressemblance, originality, difficulty and the general result of the costume. It is not necessary for the cosplay to be hand made. This category will be judged by DollFest director.

Prize:
One bid prize for first place and a prize for second and third place for each category.

Rules:
There are no pre inscription necessary. We however ask the owner of the doll that wish to enter to arrive 15 min prior to the beginning of the masquerade to register their doll.

Any type of doll will be accepted for the masquerade. We reserve the right to refuse some doll if they are not presentable to the general public(blood, gore). Some blood or gore is acceptable, in doubt ask us. Dolls need to be wearing clothes. An exception will be made for anthro type doll.

One doll per person. It is not possible to enter multiple doll as couple or separately.

You must provide your own stand if you wish to have one.(Highly recommended)

Faceup Workshop

-Bring your own material based upon our list 0$
-Pre-register (CLOSED)
-Pay 15$ at the door to use the provided materials

Please note that you will need to bring your own head with no faceup and clean. We will not provide any head.

The workshop will be in english only but will also have a traduction in french if needed.

You can pre register by sending an email to [email protected] with your name, Badge #(if you have already registered to otakuthon) and your paypal address. DollFest will only accept Paypal for payment. If you need another form of payment please contact us. The pre register period end on July 20.

If you bring your own material, it need to be similar to our list of material. If you choose this option you will not be able to use the rental material we are providing. The material list is as follow:
1. Chalk pastels (color selection and brand at your own discretion. Recommend: Rembrandt or Gallery)
2. Mr. Super Clear (or alternative)
3. Acrylic paints (color selection and brand at your own discretion. Recommend: Liquitex)
4. Gloss Medium and Varnish (Liquitex)
5. Mr. Clean Magic Eraser
6. Liquid paint retarder (Recommend: Liquitex Flow-Aid)
7. Pointy Eraser (Recommend: Tuff Stuff retractable eraser)
8. Palette (Recommend: disposable paper palette pad)
9. 4 Essential Paintbrushe

Participation Raffle



During each panels and workshop of DollFest, a ticket will be given out for a participation to a raffle. The ticket will be given out at a random time during the panel or workshop. Your badge number will be written on your ticket. Each ticket will be put in the raffle box.

During the meet up, we will do a raffle. To win, your ticket must be pick and you must be present during the raffle. You must have your ticket and badge in hand when you claim your prize. In case of a no show we will draw another ticket.
