Dollhouses & tiny scales...do you mix scales?

Feb 2, 2011

    1. I have about three tinies right now, one Dollfactory Bobo & two Felix brownies. I have a Realpuki soso on layaway at the moment...but I also want a Pukifee and a PukiPuki.

Now, my question is this: how many of you mix scales in your dollhouse? I have a dollhouse that the Pukifee would fit into better, since she is about six inches high. My concern is she would look like a giant next to the pukis and the brownies...so am wondering if a Lati White would not be better, or a Lati White special when they become available again.

I use Rement which isn't a really scale factor, since the tinies look so great with it.I'm trying to configure my doll want list, so if a Pukifee is too large...then I would put that doll on the backburner. My old dollhouse is buitl on a scale of 1 1/2 inch to the foot, so that will probably be ok for a pukifee.

If it isn't too much trouble, could someone post a size comparison pic if they mix their pukifees or lati yellow dolls with their pukipukis or brownies, in their dollhouse?? Mainly I would like to see the Pukifee in a dollhouse setting , and see if she looks like Alice in wonderland or like a big sister.

    2. I have a 1/12th scale dollhouse with 1/12 furniture and re-ment mixed it (just not the tables&chairs and such) and I use that for Puki, Lati White SP and Lati White (and have a Realpuki ordered that will live that too) I would not put Lati Yellow in personally, I think they look a bit big in there...probably especially compared to the pukis and such. Lati Yellow would only look ok in front of the house, since the windows and doors are a bit bigger than inside. I shall take a picture of a lati yellow with the pukis in the house in a min, so you can see. i actually bought a Re-ment house box for my Lati Yellow and Person dolls, but I don't have that yet so I can't show anything yet. It's more the scale of the Re-ment desk and kitchen and such.

    3. Here you go...Bee visits the Pukis in their house! Did not want to put more than 1 Lati Yellow in, heh.

She looks alright in front of the house:

      Inside:

      "Am I in your way?"

      Pong:"Fits just fine!!"
      Bee: "....You sure?"
      Penny: *Sigh*

    4. See, this is why I don't like PukiFee as much as I love PukiPuki and RealPuki. Though they are adorable, PukiFee and Lati Yellow look like giant beasts in scale compared to the others in a doll house setting so avoid them. It's a good thing because it gives me a reason not to buy them. So I don't mix scale in my dollhouses - which I might get a chance to work on today with it being a snow day! Yay!

    5. Has not so much to do with liking a doll or not, I just think they don't fit that well into a 1/12 house mixed with pukis and lati white, personally. It would certainly not stop me from buying dolls in bigger sizes, though!

    6. Oh I agree. Your lati yellow looks adorable though in your dollhouse. Lois is your dollhouse from dollhouse emporium? I thought I recognized the doorway. I sometimes drop in on their dollhouse forum as kingwilliamminis.

The current dollhouse where my brownies and the mouse live is 1:12 scale Walmer Strawberry patch kit, that I am working on finishing. It originally had a bunch of artist dolls living in it, but I packed them away since they were fragile. The older dollhouse that is on a larger scale- 1 1/2 inch to the foot, my very first dollhouse, might work with both the pukifee and the pukis & the brownies in it as well, since I willb e mixing Rement and such. The table and chairs in Rement fit these tinies well, the pukifees, but I don't really want to do the kitchen on a scale of 1 1/2 inch to the foot, it will look odd with other furniture.

She looks cute in the dollhouse actually. Thanks so much for the pictures!and yes, I'm hooked on fairyland and just need another excuse to buy more dolls....

    7. LOL, I like that! Yes this dollhouse is "Mountfield" from Dollhouse Emporium. It's still not finished after 2 years, the roof is a bit tricky to glue on...so no loft yet.

I might get some Re-ment chairs+table and kitchen for the Lati Y-sized room box...am not entirely sure what I'm gonna do yet, but it's gonna make an awesome backdrop for pics I think, like all dollhouses. :)

    8. I have a number of pieces of dollhouse furniture in a number of scales and you can mix and match the standard 1:12 size with the 1:16 or 1:18 size (these two are things like Lundby, vintage Petite Princess, vintage Marx and MPC plastic furniture).

I find my Elfdoll Catsy works wonderfully with all of those as does my Puki (and even my DZ Pet doll fox, when I had him).

If you want furniture for your PKF, you could get bean bag chairs from Spampy (wonderful stuff!) or you could make your own furniture -- and all you need for a "dollhouse" is a bookshelf . . .

Take a look at the "Homes for Tinies" thread for inspiration!

    9. Now that I've seen the Pukifees with the little ones, I might put her on the backburner when I get further along on the older dollhouse. They do not actually look that outlandish with the 1/12 scale items, with some rement mixed in.
