1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Dollinian: in search of history of a defunct company

Jan 9, 2025

    1. A simple question the other day has turned into a research rabbit hole (again!)

      My first & favorite bjd I have always known came from a short lived, possibly American, company called Dollinian. When I did a quick Google yesterday to confirm, I discovered how quickly said company disappeared & very little more

      Here's what I found by scanning old DoA posts:
      Dollinian was a new company announced in August 2007.
      Garden of Dolls became a US rep for Dollinian September 2007 & people were receiving ordered dolls & bodies from October on!
      It may have been an American doll designer, with production in China. They first released 60 & 43cm female dolls both with the same sculpt & early simple joints. 13cm tinies were added by Dec 2007.
      The larger dolls seem to have found few fans. Some people tried the affordable bodies for hybrids but soon swapped them out. The tinies were a bigger hit for a short time.
      Dollpeddlar still listed Dollinian in their product list June 2009.

      I bought my 60cm doll November 2008 from a friend who had had the doll in her doll shop for a while. My friend had gotten the doll from friends who had a doll shop. I named my doll Acacia Rose & then a few years later renamed her Amelia Peabody Emerson. In my search, my posts about Acacia & Amelia & posts by others about tinies were most prevalent. Apparently the larger dolls really didn't go over! Also discovered that people later selling 60cm Dollinians use the name Acacia to identify the unnamed sculpt... And thus myths become history! ;}

      A later discussion from 2012 turned up the fact that Dollinian molds (at least the tinies) were sold to a Russian company who were creating new versions with different bodies which were confusing collectors.

      I'd add a photo, but this is the discussion section. Just do a quick search for Acacia or Dollinian & Cthulhu & you'll see her.

      My question is: does anyone remember any other details about Dollinian? Who was the original doll designer & were they US based? Not that it matters but I'd like to get all the facts in order. Maybe add them to the blank wiki for Dollinian here.

      Thanks!
