1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Dollshe DSAM 18 - 70cm body & heads

Feb 18, 2010

    1. Was "hound" a head? or just another term used to describle the body. :? I used to think it was the name of and actual head the ones up for sale currently are:

      1. Bernard
      2. Origin
      3. Saint
      4. Rosen

What happened to "Hound"? Was that a Limited Edition head?
      Please advise.

    2. The current line of Dollshe boys is the second generation, so to speak. 'Hound' was the first of the original Dollshe boys. 'Hound-size' means 70cm (since I'm pretty sure Hound was also the first doll period in that size bracket -- Dollshe aficionados, correct me if I'm wrong?).

Hound was never limited. He is, however, discontinued. You can find a lot of information on him and the other Dollshe dolls by using the 'search' function at the top of the forum.

Hound was a lovely sculpt, too. I've a friend who owns two and they're beautiful.

    3. Thank you, that helps. :)

    4. The only correction to Tez's info:

Dollshe's did make the very first 70cm boy doll and it was named Bermann. Bermann was made in very limited quantities and very hard to get. Hound was the first non-limited 70cm doll made by Dollshe.

Since the Hound sculpt made the 70cm size very popular companies that started making clothing to fit that size started calling it "Hound Size". Quite a few places still use that terminology for the 70cm size even though Hound is no longer made and many other companies make dolls that tall.

There was a regular open eyed Hound head sculpt, an SA Hound (half closed eyed) and an IM Hound (frowning mouth with a crease between the eyebrows).

Bernard and Saint are the only heads Dollshe made for the old body type that he has continued to make with the release of his new DSAM bodies. Origin and Rosen are entirely new heads.

    5. Oh SNAP I fail for putting Hound ahead of Bermann. *headdesk* I blanked on the original Bermann release. Back to the BJD history books with me!

    6. And Rosen is supposed to be the successor of Hound and Bermann. His features resemble them strongly, but are still different :).

    7. Question (hopefully someone still checks this thread:

I'm also new to Dollshe. So it looks like the DSAM 32 and 35 bodies are in the taller 73-74cm range, while the original body, the DS18 and the new pure body are 70cm?

Proportionally the Saint head (or any other Dollshe head for that matter) fits all those bodies? I would love to see comparison photos of all bodies with the same head...

I'm thinking of hybriding him with a Soom Idealian body, but not sure how that would go...

    8. Yes, Saint fits all these bodies - while the DSAM32 and DSAM 35 bodies are taller, they still have essentially the same neck-shoulder proportions (well, of course they are wider, but not much...that's why they seem so long and thin) as the shorter bodies. The new Pure body is supposed to be a rerelease of the original body (with some improvements) - and actually no matter how much I measure, that old body is just not 70cm. He's more like 68-69cm...

I'm not really sure about the Idealian body though...they have seriously thick necks. Though Dollshe boys are also quite strong in the neck department, theirs is also miiiles long (to make the body fit for their very long face-part and chin). While Soom heads have seriously tiny chins, and the ID neck while thick, is supposed to accomodate to that....but this is all just speculation :sweat

    9. Thanks, Smaug, that helps a lot! Dollshe's/Dolltown site, though informative, always confuses me... new saint heads vs old saint heads that don't fit on other bodies, etc.....
