1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Dolly funds and saving money

Nov 21, 2014

    1. did any of you ever leave some sum of money in your saving account which you won't touch for buying other things other than dolls and their props?
I'm just curious if anyone doing the same thing thing with me :sweat

    2. Nah, doing that doesn't work for me since I don't have a savings account. (Laws forbid me to have more than 2k total in both checking and savings, so it's pointless to have a savings account anyways.) It's easier for me to actually pull money for doll savings out of my account, then stash it away somewhere, that way I actually have the money on hand when I'm ready to buy my doll.

    3. For me I save whatever I can. Mom said when I first got into the hobby if it's found money it is mine and it's free for the taking.

    4. I don't really save it, unless I need a large amount all at once. I allow myself so much out of each paycheck to go towards doll stuff, and that usually gets spent weekly on layaways or things for the dolls.

    5. I keep a jar of money in my room that has small amounts of money from my checking account.
I don't put it in a saving account because if I withdraw any I'm charged a fee. :/

    6. I have a seperate doll savings account, but these days it seems to be more a matter of allowing a certain portion of my paycheck for dolls and doll items. The funds don't actually seem to make it into the savings account anymore, whoops.

    7. Haha I'm the opposite... I have a savings fund I say i'll put away for anything but dolls but then I end up buying them D:

    8. Dang, that's a sucky law. I wouldn't like having to listen to that, considering how saving up money is almost a hobby of mine ;).

I prefer to save up, no matter if I have something to save up for or not. In my case, I want to have a certain amount of money on my savings account, before I'm even considering spending it. Dolls are on the bottom of that list of things to spend it on :).

    9. Lol i just have a pikachu piggy bank that I have money save for my dolls and clothes and what not. But I also have a bank account but that's not for the bjd stuff

    10. I've been doing that since I have memory, I think I was 8y.o or something. My parents don't even question it anymore (most of the times) :XD:

    11. I tried to start saving spare money in a piggy bank only for dolly things (well, it's a very fat porcelain manekineko, really) but considering I buy dolly things almost only on the internet it's not really practical having your savings in the form of some handful of coins. So for me like others is more a matter of keeping a portion of my paycheck for dolls and dolly things. But now that I have some really expensive dolls on my wishlist to save for I'll probably start to store money on my prepaid credit card...
