1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Dolly Revamp?

So... I have my first and only doll... She's currently residing at my parents' place and I'm 8 hours away. I haven't seen her in years, sadly. :c
Originally I gave her the name "Jasperella" which is modeled after the cartoon character, Jasper Morello in my deeper steampunk days. I'm still a steampunk fan, but I wanted to revamp her and make her seem more natural now that I'm using the hobby for my costume design career (I'll be using my doll as a milliner doll/ maquette for my fashion designs.) I'm always surfing the web to look at faceup designs, which I'll be doing in AGAIN once I obtain her from my parents -- so nervous for that. >,> Anyway, I'm planning a dolly revamp and I was wondering if anyone had any name and faceup suggestions. She is a Luts Kid Delf Litchi (MSD).

Also, I thought I might turn this into a discussion. Has anyone else done a dolly revamp or is thinking of doing one? Care to share your stories? c: :chocoberry

    2. I'm close to redoing/reconceptualizing a pair of my dolls, a Soom Glati and Yrie. They're going to keep their names (Imaginos and Mystere), but the one that's "done" is going to be stripped down to bare resin again, and the second is going to be started from scratch, with the two having complementary looks this time instead of "just whatever I feel like doing." I'm honestly looking forward to the project! Most of my dolls are OCs who are pretty solid in appearance and don't get to go through these kinds of things, so the whole process will be a brand new thing.

    3. I've just recently revamped my msd girl Wendy, who is an AOD Fei. I first got her in 2008, and she was always blonde and wearing pink ruffly outfits. After 5 years though, she seems to have grown out of the more childish stage. I've sold almost all of her clothing, changed her wigs to longer, darker, more mature cuts and colours, and plan on re-doing her faceup as soon as I can afford the materials. I'm sort of doing the opposite of you, steampunk_saskia; I'm making her look less natural with some makeup :)

Gotta ask though, why you guys revamp your dollies, do they tend to keep their 'personalities', or do they completely change characters? Wendy's matured, but she's still very much the same dollie as before.

    4. She keeps personalty, it's a completely different character I feel. Sounds fun!

    5. I guess name and faceup suggestions would depend on what kinds of costumes you'll be designing for her. Are you sticking pretty much to one or two similar themes or are you hoping to use her for a wide variety of things?
The greater the variety the more I think you'd want to keep the faceup pretty neutral/natural. No strong or bright colours around the eyes, medium-light brownish eyebrows, lighter pink lips etc.

As for me, all my minifee have been in the process of being revamped since late November. I finally just finished faceups on the last two today and I couldn't be happier with them.
Their personalities are still there same as before, they're just prettier and I have a stronger idea of exactly where I'm going with their default looks. A few of them will be getting new names once inspiration strikes :)

It's sorta like getting new dolls, but cheaper (except that I have a bad habit of getting new dolls as well)

    6. I went to LUTS to look at the sculpt, but I couldn't think of any names for her. I think she looks beautiful with the company faceup,so maybe you should do one like that. Right now I'm doing a complete makeover on one of my dolls,Meggie. She's going from a ginger to a golden blonde and I'm changing her name to Aurelia. She never really had a back story or character before, but now I feel inspired to create one for her.

    7. my revamp is that I decided I wanna stick with mostly MSD or yos for my crew. I do like my MSDs but they're too mature to be kids and too short to be teens. :/
As for mischief, he's always a work in progress. I get better over time, I think, so my taste gets btter over time. Some of the clothing and wig and eye choices I had for him... oy vey!! XD He started out with several names too. I think the dolls SHOULD be able to adapt and stay interesting as we grow as humans.

    8. I found a new name for her... "Rin" which means cold. She can be cold. Something she is very pouty, lazy, and pixie-like. I thought of doing what DahliaDevere suggested and do something similar with what the company did with the Litchi sculpt, but at the same time I want to make her interesting. For fashion, I plan on making smaller scale costumes (since she'll be a maquette) and even come up with some fashion trends or my own costume creations to show off. I have a lot of themes: lolita, vintage, shows/movies like Game of Thrones and 300, historical costume, Halloween costumes, everyday teen and young adult wear.

Eventually I will get my boy BJD, which I think I may get once I have enough and I work with Rin for a while. There is this one mold that I had my heart set on since before I got my Litchi. He's a Kyle mold from BlueFairy International. I was going to name him Tama... or Tama something with a little bit more masculinity. That's the name that stood out to me when I first saw him. I dunno, it may change if I ever do get him in his gentle body sculpt. Talking about it makes me excited to get him. X3
