1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Don't cry little one

Jul 9, 2013

    1. Just a quick question, when your doll is sad or feels scared, what do you do to cheer them up?:daisy

    2. Um, hmm, well when I get the vibe my Lilium is upset about something, I tend to make her something or buy her something. Or if I'm broke, which is frequent, I sit her next to me and we search the internet for things I assume she'd like and add it to my pinterest so I can make it later or purchase something similar at a later date. But I haven't encountered scared doll yet :) Hopefully I won't.

      What do you do?

    3. When it seems like Avalon's in a bad mood (kicking, eyes seem to be following me around the room, throwing off his wig when I pick him up) usually I take pictures of him acting all sulky, hug him, if I'M in a bad mood or tired and have a headache then I take a nap holding him and I feel better.

    4. Whenever Pixie looks down I make her something, usually clothes, or a toy. In fact she has a riding-brontosaurus for just this reason.

    5. Usually I'll hug Olette and play some music that she likes. I get this vibe from her that she's happier after that.

    6. I just hold her or give her a hug and sit her by me on the couch
sometimes I check her for staining or damage (luckily none so far) and clean her and brush her hair

    7. Sadly my doll is an inanimate object that, in spite of performing my most wild black magic rituals and unceasingly exposing it to Nickelback music, cannot feel. :(

    8. It depends on the doll. Buying stuff for Amir usually makes him look happier, cuddling Loki usually helps, exposing Parker to anything One Direction......I won't go through the whole list, but usually spending time with them seems to help. Though there are some sculpts that just NEVER look happy, no matter what you do.....Axl is one of those. :P

    9. Interesting question...

I have a very active imagination, so my doll characters have many moods. They're pretty good at comforting each other, so if one of them is 'feeling sad' then I usually suggest that they talk to a friend (i.e. I sit them next to their friend on the shelf for a 'conversation'). Tyler is the only one of mine who I regularly spoil. I cuddle most of them occasionally, though. Like Cloaked Schemer, I have some dolls that, due to their sculpt and faceup, never look happy. Michael (Resinsoul An) is one of these. Michael looks as though he's permanently bored, annoyed or moody. Nothing I can do to make Michael happy. lol

    10. I'm taking care of a runt 4 week old kitten right now so I kind of love my dolls for the fact that they can't cry. That baby's got lungs! But as far as dolls go, Ilari looks miserable most of the time. He's got a pretty neutral expression like my other dolls so I'm likely projecting. The life of the character he's based on is pretty much one extended traumatic experience. :sweat

I guess what I do when I feel bad about it is draw or write about one of the happier times in his life. Not much I can do for the doll himself. I do keep him posed right next to his little girl all the time.

    11. It's the opposite for me. My dolls are hunks of plastic, to be honest, I find it a bit scary (?) when people think they feel or think things. But they DO serve to cheer me up when I am feeling sad. Sometimes I just sit them next to my computer when I'm feeling a bit down and it cheers me up!

    12. I had to laugh out loud at this.... Very well said!

I too, as much as I try, cannot tell if my doll is sad. I am sure they are always happy because they get to live with someone as cool as I am! :)

    13. what a cute topic LOL XD

...in my imagination Giselle is sad sometimes because she is getting tired of waiting for me to bring her husband home...i was going to and then the pocket killers of soom came up with their FCE ID72/MG event...and i went and purchase my Hyperon and shoshon not to miss the chance because i soooo badly wanted them!!! <3...then...DOD went and shot straight to my heart with the release of their irresistible limited elves! >_>...and i went and ordered them ( not to cry in missery after i saw owner pictures later)....now, every time i imagine she feels very lonely or depressed i go and hug her and tell her that my mind is set, he will come next year no matter what! >_< thank God he is not a limited doll! XD

    14. I would say just picking her up would be enough to brighten her day!

    15. My dolls only have feelings that come out while taking photos, I'm afraid, but I have cheered up my dolls in photostories. I hugged my little girl, Tania, last winter after I had my wisdom teeth removed! She was very, very scared for her Daddy's safety :blush

    16. Ummm... not really. But I do sometimes apologize to inanimate objects if I bump them or knock them around without meaning to do so. I don't think they NEED this, but it's sort of like talking to myself and saying--'hey, be careful with that!' :)

    17. I too have a very active imagination and because of this I can drift off into fantasy really easy. I know my dolls are inanimate objects but I still notice that somedays their expressions seem to change ( or more likely my perception of their expressions changes) so if they appear sad I may pick them up or play with them. Sometimes I think it is that we (us owners) can reflect our own feelings onto them too.

    18. When ever I think Mayumi seems a little sad I take her out of her bed and put her on her horse Hitori. Don't know if it cheers her up but it certainly makes me smile. I still have to make sure she is back in her bed before lights out.

    19. Have you checked your doll's ears for eye putty ear plugs? This may be the reason they appear to have a lack of feeling. Be prepared for the reality that your doll is now mobile, conscious, cognizant, and possibly considering doing you harm and you should probably call an expert to handle this. And stop the Nickelback. xP

What do I do when my doll is sad?

    20. I don't have a doll yet but if this ever happened to me......photoshoot!!!! What better way to cheer somebody up than by making them feel glamorous :)
