1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Ever met a BJD owner in real life?

Jun 17, 2014

    1. I have never met a BJD owner in real life, but I think I converted one of my friends. Do you have some BJD owners in your life?

      PLEASE AND THANK YOU!!!:aheartbea:aheartbea:aheartbea

    2. Rooziej / Rooz is my dolly friend. I became a bjd addict thanks to her. We met on a lolita forum though. She hosted a meet in my town and it turns out she lives there. I know there are at least two more living in my city, but I have never gotten in contact with them IRL. Puppit was also present at the meet and I have commissioned her a few times. Furthermore, a buyer came to pick a doll up in person, so I have met her. :p

    3. I know some from our German BJD forum. We made a small private Doll Meeting in botanic garden, Augsburg not long ago. ^^ That was my first time to meet other BJD owners and I had fun to talk to them who also have some hobby like mine.

    4. I have quite a few! For the first year or so, I only had my sister. She ordered her first boy right after my first got here. I thought we were allll alone....then I met people online who were close enough to visit (and visited a few that were far away), now I'm part of a local group that meets monthly. There are probably 15-20 locals that meet, though not everybody goes to every meeting.

    5. I was very lucky when entering the hobby as I got the opportunity to go to three doll meets (in two different places) before even ordering my first doll! I am very grateful for the generous people in my local BJD community :)

    7. It's cool that doll meetings has brought you guys together. Maybe I'll go to one and find some cool people!

    8. No, I live in a tiny town, an hour+ from anywhere.

Edit: my niece is buying a BJD on layaway, but she lives 7 hours away but I do know her.

    9. In real life? No. :(
I only know doll people online. I wish I could meet someone in real life though!

    10. Few of my friends are in the hobby, and I have also attented meets, so I have met other BJD owners irl. ^^ I hope that I will meet more, as finnish hobbyist seem to be nice folk.

    11. I kinda sorta met one in town, a few months ago, at an anime club event, She had a Doll with her behind the dealers' booth. when I asked her waht it was she said "Lust delf, but not a real one..." Recast, So I pretty much stopped talking to her that day.

I'm sure that there are some in my city but I have yet to actually meet anyone.

    12. Yep. owo Meetups, and random folks who recognize my dolls.

    13. Nope. The only time I had a chance to meet other BJD people, it was at a con panel. No one showed up. :[

    14. Yes, my friend who does my face ups. She lives just 15 minutes away, so whenever I bring a doll or pick one up, we have a nice visit. She has a lot of dolls, mostly from other companies than mine, so it's nice to be able to see them in person. She's the only BJD person I've met in person. Other than the one dealer who I see at some of the doll shows around here.

    15. No I haven't and as I live in the country far away from any major cities I don't think I will. I do hope one day to meet some though!

    16. I have. I know several. I feel super duper lucky because there a few local meets that I can go to meet other owners. It's an interesting question because now that I know a few owners I can't imagine what it would be like to have never met any. I hope that all of you that have never met other owners IRL get a chance. It's really cool to see other dolls in person and meet the people who own them.

    17. No, unfortunately. There really isn't a BJD group around my area (that I know of), but I'm always hopeful :)

    18. I haven't met any other bjd owners as of yet but it would be nice to be able to talk to others about dolls in person. I would go to doll meets if they weren't so far away. I think I may have converted a friend or two just last weekend to buy themselves a doll though.

    19. I've met quite a few BJD folks in real life through local meetups-I've become good friends with a few of them :) It's really fun to be able to share this hobby with awesome people in real life.

    20. I met a small group at a local anime convention with their dolls and thought it was awesome because I had been looking at BJDs for a year or two before that and put it on the "list of things I probably could not buy".
1-2 years later I ended up sharing a class with one of them, I don't remember if we saw her carrying her doll bag, browsing the dollios website, or just asked her if she still had them or something.
But eventually my siblings and I would do mini-meets in class (after our work was done) with her when she brought 2 dolls at a time to use the photo studio or so. Then by the end of the semester my siblings and I each had a doll from Junkyspot! She even brought one of her newest dolls around December when she got him and we did a mini-meet my second semester.
I liked to look at BJDs on google, but never would have bought one. Seeing them in person and getting to hold them made me go for my first resin one, so I pin the blame on her! : D
Now I go to local meet ups frequently and there are several people who collect them here! It's pretty fun.
