Extreme doll hybrids

    1. What are your thoughts on them. Should they be in their own category since they are extreme since they include 3 or more different doll company doll parts.

      I know how I feel is I have a doll thats made of 4 different companies. Where do I post the doll since alone the body is 3 companies? I know its okay to post hybrids in threads but at times it feels weird you know since they are so out there they might be off topic in sense.

      Example my doll has an almost 10 year old volks SD13 girl body and the legs been modded with Male fantasy soom legs. The Head right now is currently being fixed to fit onto the body and the hands are modded Soom hands. So in sense the doll has 3 or more companies in it alone. I could post the doll in the volks section but you know its just one of those iffy feelings.

      I wonder exactly what is Your take on the whole hybriding thing.

    2. I think it's fine to post about a hybrid doll in any section that it has parts from. Whatever you feel comfortable with, anyway. Most doll owners understand about hybrids and own them, so it shouldn't be a big deal.

    3. I have a lot of hybrids, and several of them are made of three companies. For the most part, I go where the head goes. Unless there is a very body-specific photo that highlights it's attributes (I have two DC hybrids, and a few pics that are mainly of those bodies - cause they're gorgeous), my photos showcase the doll's head and face up, so posting my DM Adam heads in a DC thread is...pointless IMO. Same goes for my Migidoll Miho. He's on a FL F60 body, but in clothes, who can tell? I only post him in the MD threads. And I don't bother with the Delf thread even though I have several Delf hybrids. Two of them only have Delf hands....They go in Dollmore and Peakswoods.

      I do sometimes lurk in the threads the doll's body comes from (Zaoll and Doll Chateau come to mind), especially if the body is so specific in size or shape as a few of mine are, just in case I have questions about clothes or posing - or hand switching - or can actually answer a question someone else has. And because I like to lurk.

    4. As for discussion threads, I think it all depends on the feelings of the people in the thread. Most folks seem to prefer a doll be in the thread its head sculpt is from.

      But!
      I have Granado hybrids whose heads are from other companies and I am welcome in the Granado thread, since those bodies are tricky to clothe.

    5. I think it would be nice to have a hybrid section on here. I love looking at hybrids so it'd be nice if there were a central place for me to find them.

    6. I agree with hybrids being posted in the threads corresponding with their head types, because I am frequently looking for alternative bodies for heads I love. My first point of call therefore would be the thread for that brand of head to see if anyone has a hybrid with it that works well :) I love hybrids though so I'm not opposed to seeing them anywhere really ;)

    7. Yep, I've always been one to post hybrids to the thread where the head is from; in my opinion that's the best solution. Of course, if you have a successful multihybrid you might want to post in the threads the body parts came from as well to let the people there know how well the fit is in case they might want to try something similar. .u.

    8. I have a few of these. Loki is a DZ Mo head on Doll Leaves body with AoD hands. Daniel is an Angelsdoll head on Magical Angel body with BBD hands. I normally would just post them in the thread for the head, and state that they're a hybrid. The face gets the most attention anyway, unless somebody is specifically requesting body pictures.

    9. I don't have any extreme hybrids, but I always post my hybrid girls in the thread that matches their head like everyone else says.

      One of my girls is a Dollfie Dream head on a 50cm obitsu body and since this (until rather recently) was a pretty rare hybrid I occassionally posted in the obitsu threads and always post to obitsu groups on Flickr and such.

    10. I'm kind of in the same boat. :D Putting together a hyrbid with a Luts event head, DZ body, and Soom beast legs. I would normally post pics of her in the Luts mini thread, but maybe we do need an "extreme hybrid" discussion thread. I'd frequent it for sure! haha

    11. I wouldn't mind having just a hybrid discussion thread, most of mine are just head/body and a lot with hands added in there, not really so extreme but still hybridy. I know there's a hybrid picture thread in the large doll discussion picture thread section, and I could swear there used to be one in the Photo Refs but I can't find it to save my life. It was kind of like a database of hybrids, but I looked everywhere and it's being elusive. And neither of those areas are really discussion-friendly, if that's what people want. There are a lot of individual body or head hybrid threads as well, mostly in the Photo Ref area.

      One problem is that there are all sizes included in just "hybrid" (I'm pretty sure I have most sizes hybrided lol), so one hybrid thread can't really include all of them.

    13. I think another thing we have to think about with the discussion threads if they ever happen is we have some people who hybrid dolls that have not asian head/body parts.

      I really do think the rules with on topic dolls should change a bit too since theres so many doll types then when the hobby first started. We have creature dolls, pet dolls, animal/human hybrids dolls. I mean the possibilities are endless. So if something was once declared off topic should be relooked at because theres new categories for dolls. Heck I think I seen some human bodies using pet doll heads so this is really a topic we should iron out lol.

      So if we make discussion threads. They would have to be in each area for both non asian and asian dolls.

    14. I also own some hybrid dolls but just not extreme because I'm not good at choosing resin and body match, so I have only hybrids from max. 2 companies together. :) My first one was with Migidoll Vampire Miho head + Fantasy doll body. They fit perfectly in my opinion and now I'm doing a new hybrid between Lust SDF Event head 14 with Miro body. They also fit nicely both resin color and body. Just wait for his face up be done.

    16. So in sense we would need a hybrid section so people can find hybrids that been done and how people have done it. Its kind of like photo refs but as a discussion section. I mean I have no idea where to look and a lot of people don't post when you ask about something. Alone resin matches are the curse of hybriding. So For what I would give to have a section like this would be amazing.

      I know you do pretty extreme mods/hybrids so you know the hybrids feelings.
