1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Fairyland Rin and Cline 60 moe issues

Jul 25, 2014

    1. Has anyone else been following the issues with the Dolls weapons? it seems the Designs were possibly Stolen!
Two workers have in fact put in their letters of resignation in over the issue already!
Sadly all my links are on facebook but there is a possibility of the Full-set Rin's being pulled.

Mr.cooke whom has the design for the celine weapon is seems will be getting mentioned in the designs for that set and thus it seems un likely this set will be pulled!

    2. It's about more dolls than one: main page http://pristine-nightmare.tumblr.com/

I had hoped a big company like Fairyland wouldn't fall in this kind of trap, the easy way to gain designs, in the hope that nobody notices...
But the point is someone always does...

It is a good thing FL does feel some regret and decided to do something about it...
It's better go agree that you did something wrong, than denie it the whole time and make it worse

    3. They acknowledged it, owned it, apologized and are trying to make amends they best way they can to the two artists. The witch hunt level of reaction some people are displaying doesn't do the hobby any favors. The one artist that was copied and commented is being way more rational about this and -he- is the one most affected!

    4. A Facebook group hit over 120 messages about it. Most agree FL is doing the right thing. I agree about Dave Crook, he doesn't wish for any drama and appreciates FL offering him compensation and more over the use of his creation. The other artist affected hasn't been reached yet.

    5. I'm very sad to hear this as I thought these dolls were simply wonderful and was actually contemplating buying one. :sweat
It's no laughing matter when someone's artwork is stolen, but I kind of chuckled at the non bjd person's response to bjds...("An $800 doll?!")

Still, I'm glad FL is doing the right thing. I hope this doesn't affect either parties negatively! :)

Edit: Also, I think it would benefit people to stop throwing around the word "recast" when this isn't a "recast" situation. Art theft? Yes. Recast? No.

    6. The only time I've seen people commenting about recasts was just to point out the hypocrisy of FL being against recasts because it is a theft of their design, and then seemingly turning around and stealing someone else's design. The weapons are definitely not recasts.

But I think people need to bear in mind that most likely most of FL was unaware of the theft. It was likely committed by one or two people who were told to come up with something and either were too lazy, or unable to come up with something unique in time and stole the ideas to keep from getting in trouble.
Most likely those responsible were offered a chance to resign or be fired.

    7. I read this on Facebook this morning. They had to know how much this would embarrass their employer if it ever got out that they copied someone else's work.

I'm glad to know they are reaching out to the artists and paying them for their work.

    8. I hope no one resigns over this, it could mean a total change in the style of FL dolls, and that would suck big time. The two people who said they would resign are likely not even the ones who sculpted the weapons. I suppose they feel guilty for not double checking their underling's sources, but honestly, how would they know they were copying someone else unless they knew everything on the internet?

    9. I believe Fairyland has responded with grace and sincerity regarding the stolen design. I was very disappointed at first but they are handling the situation with respect to the artist. I am sure they will come to an agreement together. I believe they even mentioned future collaborations! ^_^

    10. I'm not a fan of Fairyland, but I've been following this since I saw the post on tumblr about it and from the beginning, it just made me feel so bad o_o' I think it's wonderful that the company promptly contacted the artists, offering (necessary) credit and compensation for the use of their work. And it would be wonderful if, from all of this mess, they could form a true partnership that would benefit both sides.
David Crook's attitude is being very reasonable and mature, imho... It was obviously quite a shock for him... I agree with him that it's sad that two people are losing their job over this, and having a "dark spot" on their career path, even though art theft is such a serious matter. It's just a very hard and upsetting situation all around :(

animagic4u, I have seen people both condemning FL for being against recasts while stealing someone else's work, and pro-recasters using this situation to, uh, "legitimize" their choice to own recast dolls... I can definitely see why people would connect FL's art theft with the entire recast debate, so it's not just throwing the word around.
But in the end, it's pretty rare for a recaster to respond the way FL is doing... Apologize, promptly admit that what they did was wrong, contact the artist, even talk about pulling/changing the line if the artist so desires (if I understood their reply correctly...) anyway... Very unpleasant for everyone involved...

    11. I briefly read this a few days ago but skipped it because I was busy doing some actual work. I'm glad it's been addressed here so I can stay up-to-date. It's indeed sad that the set designers copied the design, even to the detail. It's fine to get inspiration from someone's work but copying it altogether is a definite no-no without consent from the actual artists.

It's nice though that Fairyland as a company apologizes in public for these mishaps though. I hope they actually do a collaboration in the future with the artist as to soften the blow that he endured.

    12. While I'm glad to see everyone is being reasonable in their reactions to this unfortunate situation, it's also being mentioned and discussed in the regular F60 discussion thread. Since there's nothing to do now but await any further developments - which may take time to negotiate - I'm closing this thread. Please do check the F60 thread for any news or concerns, since everyone there is also interested in keeping on top of any further developments.
