Favorite Doll Company and Why

May 5, 2012

    1. I just wanted to know what you guys favorite company is. Is there a fondness for a particular one because of a doll that holds lots of significance to you? Is a favorite because of the quality, beauty of the dolls, or pricing?

Currently, I'm leaning toward ringdoll for their ridiculously cool modified dolls (such as frankenstein)
And Lutz for their beauty. And Island doll has a few I like as well that are fairly decent priced. :)

    2. Im partial to Fairyland seeing as that's the only company Ive ordered from so far, however I have a feeling it would have been my favorite anyway. What really got me into them was the ante sculpt and their dolls poseability. That's what I feel is the most important factor for me in a doll, the poseability and of course the quality.

Ive also found that I like just about every sculpt from them, not enough to want my own of all of them(luckily!) but I really enjoy looking at all pictures of dolls from Fairyland whereas with other companies I might only like one or two sculpts and not care for any other :)

As for the beauty of the dolls, Im amazed at how beautiful sculpted my pukifee's legs and arms are. Often I see dolls that look...well just like dolls with fairly straight limbs but my pukifee looks more alive to me with all the small details, it's a bit hard to describe if youve not got a doll from FL. Theyre just awesome at not only faces but bodies too and to me that's important even if the doll is dressed most of the time. For example, I try to make short dresses to my pukifee since I really want to show her legs more, theyre so cute and beautiful sculpted, I wish I had legs like that |D

As far as pricing goes, I think FL is cheap...yes you heard me, I said cheap! For the quality and amazing poseability you get I simply dont think they charge enough. Maybe they charge more than most companies but not enough in my oppinion *shrug* I paid $300 for my pukifee last year, in Sweden that almost equals what I get each month for being unemployed(I get around $380 to be exact) which in Sweden is not much at all. If Ive got a job, a pukifee each month would definitly not ruin my ecconomy(it would ruin my place though, gosh pukifees everywhere D: ). Fairyland just seem like the perfect company for me *giggles*

I guess Im just deeply madly in love with Fairyland, but luckily so far I can control it haha xD

    3. I'm a fan of Souldoll. Their dolls are so magnetic.
Also, there are many Soom dolls in my list, but mostly all of them were bought randomly.
I don't care about the price.

    4. the company i am loving right now is resinsoul. something about their sculpts just seem so nice, and the faces really fit the characters i want to make. hopefully getting another at the end of the year :D

    5. for the first time i search my first bjd i bumped to Iplehouse and fall in love with the real type dolls...
so i bought my first doll from iple also my other 3 dolls... after that i saw granado on doa... and order one girl...
for now i think i'm majoring in real type sculpt... eventhough already have several others than real type on my wish list... :D

    6. Souldoll hands down. I need over half of their Kid dolls. I'm an MSD enthusiast. I've loved them since I got into the hobby. I got my first Souldoll in (a Souloid) and I can't say enough good things about the quality and my new boy. They are the only company that I'd want an SD from and I'm saving up for their bodies for my floating heads.

    7. My favourite doll company is Dollzone. I just find their dolls very beautiful and original, good quality and affordable prices. I also like Luts and Fairyland, largely for the same reasons. I just love dolls that look like dolls or fantasy characters rather then real people (although I do find for example, Iplehouse dolls beautiful but not in the sense that I would like one as a part of my collection).

    8. Granado. Every time they release a new doll I have the feeling that they are always listening and improving themselves.
I have their dolls and I love them. The quality is great, also they have many details which I love.
Also, they have great service. They always make quick responses when I have questions. So Granado is my favorite doll company.

    9. LUTS, their resin and their mold somehow is compatible with my liking. The doll body is poseable, the joint is good, looking for the clothing is fairly easy, the resin easily absorbs color, and their mold are beautiful.

But to be frank, I love Iplehouse molds more than any other. Almost all of their mold is in my wishlist. I just don't know why I end up adopting none, maybe because they are pricey and I'm easily distracted, hahaa. However I'm saving for an Arvid ^^

    10. Iplehouse for sure! They're the company that convinced me that bjds were cool, not just creepy things I saw at anime conventions. Their dolls are just so beautiful, body and face! I don't care that they aren't as great posers as fairyland, they're beautiful and that's what counts for me.

I also adore doll chateau. Those dolls are so elegant and ethereal. I can't wait to get one!!

    11. My favourites are:

Dollmore: I love the expressiveness of their sculpts! They aren't beautiful or ethereal (in my opinion) but they are so full of character, they seem almost alive! I seriously want them all- I could tell a story about any of them!

Dollstown: :drool the most gorgeous sculpts! I seriously love them, I'd never seen dolls so realistic! Like Dollmore, I don't see them as ethereal beauties. I see them as perfectly stunning dolls though- simply in how beautifully realized and full of character they are.

Iplehouse: Now these dolls are gorgeous. Not ethereal, but truly beautiful, and I love them because they've somehow managed to make a doll that's both unusually gorgeous and also has 'life' and expressiveness to it.

Lati: I feel like I have to put Lati on the list. I've loved their dolls since I first saw them. There's just something about them that sings to me. Like Iplehouse, they've managed to capture a non-human beauty and tons of expression.

    12. Iplehouse! I love the varied realistic facial features of the dolls. Even their dolls that are slightly on the realisic anime side are beautiful! I also love them for their realistic resin "skin" colors and how each sculpt looks believable in any color. The posing may not be the greatest, but the poses the bodies *can* do combined with the overall aesthetic of the doll results in a breathtakingly REAL image. Hands down my favorite company. I could happily and easily buy from them alone.

Volks is becoming a close second because of the quality of the resin. The first doll pic I saw and loved was a Volks, but there are only a handful that I really want to own. I do like the way they are presented very much.

Fairyland is very cute and my favorite for posing possibility. I liked the three that I owned.

    13. I'm personally attached to Dream of Doll. They were the first BJD company I discovered years ago and I fell in love with all their sculpts immediately. :fangirl: It was because of them I got into the hobby in the first place. I can't wait to order another one of their beautiful dolls!

    14. Volks is tops with me. I love their resin quality, the way their sculpts look so alive, their customer service, and the whole event culture around they've built around their dolls. I also like the quality of a lot of their clothes and tools.

I also love Crobidoll for their resin, their fun approach, their sculpts, and their gorgeous faceups. I have a lot of room in my heart for LUTS and Iplehouse, too :).

    15. Volks. Their bodies are not the most poseable or most ingeniously engineered, but I think they, along with their head sculpts, have a very classic ball-jointed doll esthetic that draws me in every time.

I am also a fan of Pluto Dolls and Marchen Waltz as well.

    16. Volks, because of their resin quality, their sturdiness and the liveliness of the sculpts. But the Dollstown bodies share first place with them, because they are just so beautifully sculpted.

    17. I'm not sure I can choose one company as a fave XD I love Doll-Zone because I found my first (realistic) doll grail there (Hid). And I love Dollmore for sheer amount of dolls I want from them xD

    18. I think I'm a fan of Dollmore, because that's where my first doll came from, so I'll always have a fondness for them.

In terms of dolls, (I don't have any from this company) I really love the Migidoll sculpts. There used to be a few of them on my wishlist, and one is still on it. The rest I decided I had no use for, and didn't keep them on, but before I revised my list I think I had three or four.

I like Iplehouse because their dolls are incredibly realistic. I don't know if I like any of them enough to own one for myself, but they're very beautiful dolls.

I have a fondness for Fairyland more or less because of Puki's. They're adorable, and I feel that no other company has produced a tiny as cute as a Puki.

    19. Angell-Studio hands down. I love many of their sculpts, their default and custom face-ups, all the extra services they offer, the quality of their clothes and wigs, and of course their excellent customer service. Also, they have a nice variety in resin colors and create custom resin matches. That being said, I do like Fairyland a great deal too, both for their adorable sculpts and their amazing posability. I find myself continuously drawn to their website.

    20. Oh man, I can't choose just one!

Dollzone, because I am floored by their history/progress. This is a company that went from making really wonky dolls, some of them ripoffs, to a powerhouse of creativity and epic quality. I have an early dollzone head (like, really early...) and I can hardly believe it's from the same company as my Joe and gorgeous creative sculpts like Moment and Anson. I mean, seriously. I wasn't there for the beginning, but this progress just blows my mind.

Fairyland, because of DAT POSING and the fact that they are the ones responsible for Pong. Pong is like, my most favorite sculpt ever. Also pukifees. See, I'm not even coherent. These people are just awesome, IDEK.

Volks, because I love the way their company is. You know, with the whole...ceremony of it all and all that. I'm an odd one out as I am actually kind of weirded out by how Volks resin feels in spite of its awesome weight (It might also have to do with the fact that my one resin volks keeps attracting ants for reasons unknown, even though she and nothing on her has ever touched food...O_o *goes to tell this story in worst doll experiences*) but I 100% love the whole welcoming ceremony stuff, the intimacy of the FCS (even though I've never done it lol), and their whole "a doll that follows you through life" thing made me misty-eyed because I'm a really sentimental doofus. :(
