1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Flickrs new "free account" terms...what now?

Apr 19, 2022

    1. Flickr announced they will be making changes to free accounts, which is bad news for us doll lovers...

This means the 300 images on my account of doll boobs, peens, and vajayjays will probably be deleted.

My question is, does anyone know of a free image hosting service that allows photo linking? Google Photos does not, at least in the way Flickr did.

    2. I’m using imgur. Works pretty neat for me.

    3. I’ve never used imgur in all the years it’s been out- is it mobile friendly by now? flickr deffo isn’t so if imgur is actually accessible via mobile devices, that’d be amazing LOL

    4. I use imgbb and haven't had any issues. :)

    5. i tend to use tumblr for it and copy the image link when i wanna share the image. gyazo works pretty nicely too, but it is limited to screenshots and not actual uploads

    6. I also use imgur. It's 100% mobile friendly

    7. I also use Imgur for all the pictures I post here, at least.

    8. The puritanical cleansing of the internet has made its way to Flickr, too, huh?

To be honest, I don't know why more people haven't moved to Imgur, Dropbox, or one of the way better alternatives at this point. It's a relic that lost relevance years ago.

    9. more puritanical for the sake of capitalism on a dying website, much like photobucket….. because of course they don’t care as long as you fork over the cash :chomp:

    10. Ah~ The good ol' Photobucket fiasco.....ugh. I switched from them to Flickr...and now Flickr has gone down the drain.

    11. If you use Imgur, be sure to set your images as private/hidden! There are lots of trolls there that like to target BJD photos...

    12. I guess I will have to test ImbBB and such. I have a large stock of hybrid photos for people to reference. I liked Flickr because it was a gallery-looking image host that allowed bulk uploading and bulk title/description editing. This made adding 20 images of one hybrid photo session a breeze.

    13. I made myself a discord server (that I only use myself), and use that to link photos here.

    14. Don't really recommend Discord for image hosting, since it butchers image quality pretty bad, and will likely one day be replaced by another service, as all direct message clients do. Fine for sharing screenshots with friends, not so great for a photographic showcase.

    15. Agreed, they butcher photos. In any case, I already have a Discord server for my Doll Feature Finder database, but it isn't really what I am looking for to host all my images. I need a sort of gallery so people can search through the hybrid photos and such to find what they need to help them in their doll quests.

    16. I’ve not had any issues with pic quality. But I take screenshots of edited pics so they fit DoA’s size requirements and use that.

Though I understand the need for better organization and that it’s not a permanent solution. Wouldn’t most hosting options have the same issues that being presented by the flickr situation?

    17. for gallery setting, deviantart might work? i k ow they have the multiple upload feature, but been years since used it so it might be a pain still to upload a bunch of photos at once?

trying to think of other places to host in a gallery setting, and might be worth while to make a website and sent up links to it rather than finding a hosting site that supports gallery features. ive used wordpress and its pretty user friendly.

    18. I definitely rec Imgur; their mobile site is completely fine and as others have said -- just make sure you have your posts hidden so they're only viewable when you link them, not by the imgur community at large!

    19. Imgur is great, just leave posts private so you don't get weird reddit and imgur people commenting rude stuff.

      You could try DeviantArt.
As well as DeviantArt sta.sh (non public uploads) but it generates absurdly long links if you want to just link to the direct image.

If you want the images private but able to be linked to, you can use a locked Twitter account & direct image links from it.
Or use a normal Twitter account and upload the photos to privatter which links to your Twitter account. I've used privatter to send images to commission clients privately and the direct image url works fine.

But imgur is probably the most straightforward and efficient regarding uploading, mobile friendliness, and usable direct image links!

    20. Welp, looks like I'm going to have to upload all of my comparison pictures elsewhere and fix the links here...that's gonna suck lmao

Lately, though, I've been using freeimage.host (since I'm almost at the limit on flickr and I don't like how imgur is laid out). It has unlimited uploads, like imgur, but it has an 128mb image size limit compared to imgur's 20mb limit. So, if you have a PNG file over 5mb, it won't get turned into a JPG like it will on imgur. Though, freeimage.host doesn't support video files like imgur does. I usually upload on the computer, but it's easy enough on mobile, too.

I have all of my pictures/albums set to "private (anyone with the link)", but there's also "public", "private (only me)", and "private (password protected)". It also gives you the BBCode and direct image links, which are what you need to post images on DoA (depending on what method you use to post pics).

Here's what it looks like when you're viewing your profile page (mine is set to private, so I only see it when logged in and no one else can see it ever unless I change the setting). It defaults to showing all of your images, ordered by most recent. I like that it shows the image name and what album it's in.
You can also look at your albums (using the menu on the top right where the username is). It defaults to most recent, as well, but I like to sort A-Z lol
