Fur or Fiber Wigs?

Feb 1, 2015

    1. Which do you prefer for your dolls? Are their certain types that look better on certain dolls then others?

    2. It depends on the overall look I'm trying to achieve. I don't care too much for the fake fur wigs, but I do love a nice wild natural fur wig. The fiber wigs I go for depends on the quality. I don't like those wiry feeling fiber wigs, but the flowy soft ones are very nice. Just all depends on your personal taste.

    3. Personally, I think I've come to prefer fiber wigs. Overall, I just like the look of them on my own dolls better. Though, that is not to say I don't like the look of fur wigs. Some look very nice. I just believe that for my own dolls and their style, fiber wigs are the way to go.

    4. What I like about fur wigs: fun to style, quite easy for me to control, cheap, usually look just like the pictures on the website, if not better.
The cons of fur wigs: don't last as long as fiber wigs especially if you mess with it a lot, doesn't look like real hair as much as fiber with some exceptions.

What I like about fiber wigs: more styles, look more like real hair.
The cons: more expensive, long hair may tangle, sometimes don't look good on your dolls comparing to ones shown on the website (kind of like hit or miss, either they look great in real life or they look like crap), I spent way too much money on fiber wigs that don't work on my dolls :(

    5. I prefer fiber, I am not a fan of the look or texture of (faux) fur wigs. Fur wigs add a lot of bulk
and are bit of a pain for me to style; which kind of makes them great for stylized hair
(like for anime/video game characters) but not so much for more realistic hair styles (IMHO).
I'm vegan, so I think I might be biased because of that as well. I do enjoy looking at well styled fur
wigs on other dolls but not so much on my own dolls. Generally, I only go for faux fur when I'm too
lazy to make fiber wigs or as temporary replacements.(:

    6. I like both but I prefer fiber wig because I think it look true hair.
and it can adjust many outfits.

    7. i think they both have there pluses and minuses, it really is up to personal taste and what look you want

    8. I like both. Fiber gave a more realistic touch but fur wigs are nice to style.
Wish I could find something that has the realism of fiber but the "holding" and softness of faux fur.

    9. I have real fur, faux fur, and fiber wigs. I like all of them on different dolls for different reasons. :)

Generally, my boys tend to wear faux fur wigs just because I can get the style I like with them. My girls alternate between any of them depending on the day/clothing style/mood/whatever.

The only thing I'm really picky about is fit. If the wig doesn't fit, I don't like it. And I can't stand silicone wig caps. So yeah - in my opinion, as long as the wig fits, wear it. ;)

    10. I like fiber hair most of the time, but fur hair looks good for boys hair IMO.

    11. I used to be more fond of faux fur wigs, but they look like too much hair for any "person" to realistically have. A lot of people have really think hair, but fur wigs are way more than that. I think if i was to use them again, I'd have to thin them way out to look more plausible.

I do have a wool/mohair blend yarn dred wig I made for one of my dolls in use. Otherwise I'm mostly into the fiber wigs, and mohair.

    12. I prefer fiber, but I like fur and will use it for certain dolls. I like my dolls to look different, so I appreciate the variety of materials available for wigs. I'm not concerned about realism ad that was never my aim - although I agree, fur wigs aren't as realistic as others. The bulk and thickness of fur has really helped some of my dolls with smaller heads to blend in with the rest of my collection.

    13. I like the human hair or synthetic wigs.

    14. Most of my dolls have fiber wigs, but I do have several of my anthro style smaller dolls in fur wigs (wolves and a kitten) as it suits them better than a fiber one would. Plus it makes making matching tails much easier.
I have been looking at angora wigs lately. I would really like to get my next doll one.

    15. Synthetic fiber looks more like "real hair" to me, but I prefer the fur wigs anyway because they're affordable and adorably fluffy

    16. For me, it all depends on the look you want. Sometimes fur wigs look better than fiber wigs, and vice versa. My dolls only have fiber wigs atm, but I have a few fur wigs that have yet to find a head to sit on.

    17. Recently I bought two fur wigs that don't look so rough, but for the most part, I only keep synthetic fiber wigs for my dolls.
      I really like them better.

    18. I prefer fiber, I had some fur wigs and they just aren't my thing. I really like fiber especially when its high quality

    19. I have a bit of eberything : fur, synthetic fiber, natural fiber (alpaca and mohair), and I like everything ! I believe it depends on the character, and when I choose a wig for them, I'm careful about the fiber too. I've always thought fur was the only good choice for Xander, and was right, fibers of any kind just does'nt suit him. Aloïs have a synthetic fiber wig and I feel like it's the best fit for him, I can't imagine him with another wig. I tried fur, and it just wasn't for him. I've bought an alpaca wig for my incomming MSD, I wanted to try those wig that are so soft and high quality, and the style is totally what I wanted for her. Finally, Lepiaf uses most of the time synthetic fiber wig, but I'm making her a mohair one and so far it looks really good (and it's really fun to do !)

    20. I like both fiber and furr wigs though am not too wild about Faux fur, I have a Tibetan lambskin furr wig for one of my dolls that is absolutely beautiful and just gives a different look to my dolls
